1 Corte Madera Chronicles December 1, 2017 IN THIS ISSUE this week pg. 2 What s Happening in Marin....Pg. 8 Agenda Center...Pg. 9 Town Calendar....Pg. 10 Quick Links Town Website Active Projects Maintaining Your Town Get Emergency Alerts Stay Informed Message from the Town Manager Dear Corte Madera Residents: As many of you might already be aware, during the past several weeks, Central Marin Police Authority (CMPA) officers have been conducting increased traffic enforcement along the Tamalpais Drive corridor. They have made note of two common violations in our community: individuals driving over the speed limit and pedestrian violations. To address these two common violations, we must always keep in mind the following safety tips. As drivers, we should always slow down and remind ourselves that the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. Speed is a very important factor when it comes to driving and the safety of ourselves and our community. It affects our reaction time, the distance we need to come to a complete stop, the ability to avoid a crash and the effects from a collision. When it comes to pedestrians, drivers should always remember to watch for them. Pedestrians can come out of any intersection or crosswalk. For this reason, drivers should avoid distractions (texting, eating, grooming, phone calls and talking to passengers) and always remain aware of the surroundings in their vehicular path. As pedestrians, we must always remember to be as safe as possible. We should always use crosswalks, obey traffic signals and look in both directions before crossing the street. It is also important to remain alert at all times. Distractions like using cellular devices and wearing earphones are examples of activities that divert our attention from what surrounds us. Remember that being cautious and keeping our residents and community out of harm s way is very important. So the next time you are behind the wheel or simply walking down the street, remember this message and be sure to remind your friends and neighbors that Corte Madera asks to keep our Town safe and sound. Sincerely, Todd Cusimano Town Manager 300 Tamalpais Drive, Corte Madera, CA Corte Madera Chronicles 1
