Date of abstinence starts from your first meeting after your last bet. Chicagoland GA Pinning Guidelines: 1. No meeting will schedule more than one pinning event in a 30 day period 2. Notification of pinning must be communicated to the pinning chairperson by either a room IG Rep or Secretary NO LATER than the SATURDAY prior to the Intergroup meeting. [Secretary s 2
3 note: modified this to add bolded requirement was passed at November 12, 2012 Chicagoland Intergroup meeting] 3. To prevent conflicts, rooms may not schedule an event on the same day as another room. In the case of a conflict, the first room to schedule a pinning and inform the pinning chairperson will take precedence 4. [Secretary s note: adding new guideline that was passed at May 9, 2011 Chicagoland Intergroup meeting] For a pin to be purchased by Chicagoland Intergroup, that the pinning, whether published or non-published must go through the pinning chairperson for approval. Reporting) Bowling League o The first night of the GA & Gam-Anon Bowling League is Sunday, September 15th at 6:00pm o Please try to arrive at 5:30pm to go over some league rules and also set teams of those that are not in a pre-formed team. October Event o A flyer was passed out for "Pumpkin Daze" at Marmion's Abbey Farm (850 Butterfield Road (Route 56) in Aurora, IL o There is a corn maze, pony rides (extra charge), petting zoo, bouncing rodeo, donuts, cider, pirate adventure, and firepit will be lit at 6:00pm (health regulations do not allow food roasting) -- visit for more information (or call ) o Cost is $10 - Children & Adults / $5 - Seniors and Military Arrive at 3:00pm to get group rate of $8 per person o Please RSVP to Jim N at or Tom C at November Event will be a Black Friday Extravaganza! -- Details to follow at October Intergroup Anniversaries Debbie M. (Paul A Reporting) Paul recommends utilizing the website meeting list for locations and directions to try out new meetings Doug K. wanted to mention that Irish Bob O. will be the guest speaker for the Sunday Naperville Meeting 6pm - Open Speaker meeting (usually third Sunday) Phone Service Dianna R., Ellen Z. (Dianna R. Reporting) Period: Missed Calls Calls Connected Total Number of Calls July 1 31st August 1-31st Dianna wanted to remind volunteers that calls need to be picked up for their assigned time slots - there are too many calls getting missed o One issue might be that the current system rings on to the next list after only four (4) rings -- Dianna is going to change this to ring on after six (6) rings to see if this improves the missed call count 3
4 Dianna also wants the volunteers to be sure to add to your phone book as the INCOMING phone line from the GA Hotline so it is not ignored. Please make sure that you have the new number on any room phone list. The new number is (855 2 CALL GA). The new meeting list on the website has the new Hotline number destroy old ones you may have. Pressure Relief Dan B. (Jerry A reporting for Dan B.) Dan is going to conduct a Pressure Relief Workshop on Saturday October 12 from 10AM - 2PM to teach pressure relief centrally located in the Chicagoland area (exact details will be forthcoming on website or flyer Dan will provide October 8th) o His goal is to teach people who have not done or have limited experience how to do pressure reliefs. Every room should have a pressure relief chairperson The room chair is the point person for scheduling PR meetings with Dan for your room. Guidance Code recommends that the PR Rep have 6 month clean time. Dan s phone number is ; he is available to come to any meeting to discuss the Pressure Relief programs and answer any questions. Public Relations Larry J., Allen H. (Allen H Reporting) No report other than the new GA Flyers will be forthcoming Sunshine/Good and Welfare Pat F. (Pat F. reporting) Cards were passed out Dianna R. wanted to pass along Michelle M's gratitude for those that have written her. Trustees Reports Debbie M. o Asks that members look at the next Trustee Meeting Agenda and provide feedback on any issues that will be voted on at the upcoming meeting. o Wanted to raise awareness about various ISO Fundraising activities: The week of September 13th is Gamblers Anonymous Gratitude Week All meetings in the world are asked to donate a percentage of their collection during this week to G.A.I.S.O. (Amount to be determined by group conscience with 50% suggested) $10, was received $12, was received. Walkathon events at each Trustee meeting she is collecting donations Lifeliners Details are on the back of every ISO Bulletin to become an ISO Lifeliner-- can send in a monthly commitment to help support ISO or do a yearly donation Fred L. -- o Mentioned that modifying Question 18's wording from the present tense of "Do" to the past tense comes up on the agenda from time to time as a voting item. The group consensus was to not change from "do". Larry J. Nothing to report Rich S. o Wanted to mention that each group should read their own meeting's guidelines with regards to cross talk, comments, "we will split into two groups if we have X members", etc. Each meeting is self governing and should let the attendees know their particular guidelines - and follow them. 4
5 Conference 2014 Tony C and Cindi M (Cindi M. reporting) First conference planning meeting on Wed. Sept 18 th at 7:00 p.m. at the Wyndam Hotel in Lisle, IL with a tour of the facility at 7:30 pm to see the meeting rooms, hotel rooms, etc. Please ask rooms to have members volunteer to support the planning and execution for this event. Holiday Party (2013) Pat F. (Pat F. Reporting) Holiday Party will be Sunday December 8, 2013 from 1-6pm -- A flyer was passed out o St. John Evangelical Church (1800 S. Rodenburg Road, Schaumburg, IL) o Cost is $10 - Adults (13 and older), $5 for Children (5-12 years old) -- 4 and younger are Free Santa will arrive at 4pm -- please bring wrapped gifts with child's name for Santa to distribute ($10 value or less) o Please bring your favorite Holiday dessert to share o Please consider a donation to help with scholarships. (Even though the room will not be charged for the pin.). o You may either tell Pinning chairperson (Susan S.) about pinning(s) or let Supplies chairperson (Mary W. or Eileen Z.) know.
