2 2010 Sydney Colorectal Surgical Meeting 2011 Sydney Colorectal Surgical Meeting Dear Colleagues, It gives us great pleasure to welcome you all to the 2011 Sydney Colorectal Surgical Meeting convened under the auspices of the Section of Colon & Rectal Surgery of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. The Sydney Meeting has been a highlight of the NSW surgical calendar for over 25 years and this year promises to be no exception with an interesting and clinically relevant program. The themes of the meeting will be the care of patients with rectal cancer and novel treatments of fistula in ano. For this purpose we have invited two esteemed international guests. Professor Eric Rullier is the Director of Digestive Surgery and Chief of Colorectal Surgery at the Hôpital Saint-Andre in Bordeaux. He has extensive experience in rectal cancer surgery and laparoscopic rectal cancer surgery. Professor Rullier will deliver the 21st Edward Wilson Lecture entitled The evolution of intersphincteric resection in the treatment of low rectal cancer. We are also very pleased to welcome Professor Arun Rojanasakul from the Division of Colorectal Surgery, Chulalonkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand who is one of Asia s most respected colorectal surgeons. Professor Rojanasakul has a strong research interest in sphincter preservation techniques and the anatomy of fistula in ano.
