A gummy red-orange substance flows when its bark is cut. Leaves Taxifolines (Taxifoline-Arabinoside-1 & 2) & Quercitrin Habitat: Harongana is a plant from the center/east of Madagascar. By forming a physical & a repulsive barrier, this pioneer plant protects primary forest areas from attacks. It is also capable of restoring degraded landscapes by stabilizing soils & allowing ferns establishment: it is considered by botanists as a «forest guard». Traditional use: Leaf decoctions of Harungana madagascariensis are traditionally used against asthma & skin disorders, leaf juice for wound healing & bark decoctions against gastric ulcers. Good collecting practices: According to preliminary variability studies to ensure a repeatable & reliable phytochemical composition in quercitrin and taxifoline arabinosides, Harungana madagascariensis is collected wild from ctober to March in the high plateaus area in an Ecocert certified area. Sustainable development: Serdex is a UEBT member & contributes to the development of Madagascar through equitable sharing of the benefits on the living conditions of plant collectors & the development of local industrial partners. 4 ACNE IS AFFECTING ABUT 8% F PERSNS AT SME PINT IN THEIR LIVES 1 Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit induced by androgenic & non-androgenic factors. Acne can lead to different types of comedones, also called retentional lesions: whitehead (microcyst, closed comedo) & blackhead (open comedo). Comedones can lead to inflammatory lesions, such as papules pustules & nodules. In the long run, those lesions can induce scars & Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). Four processes have a role in the formation of acne lesions: inflammatory mediators released into the skin, alteration of the follicular keratinization process, increased & altered sebum production & follicular colonization by Propionibacterium acnes. Acne-prone skin is related to a new theory that a primarily cutaneous & systemic oxidative stress is involved 2.
