5 WHAT IS AN IMPACT? Impact: long term effects induced by an action of development. This is what stay after the end of the research program. Impact could be: Of different nature: economic, social, sanitary, politic etc At different level of actors: individual, groups, institutions Positive or negative Intentional or not Direct or indirect Measured by indicators

To ensure that the network reaches its objectives, outcomes and eventually its impacts To identify strenghts and weaknesses To identify and implement corrective action To document network progress and activites To advocate for funding To ease internal and external evaluation process
