2 The Elementary Department won the 1st Quarter Accelerated Reader (AR) competition. The students (along with Middle and High School students who achieved 100% of their goal) enjoyed a pizza-and-movie party. Way to go, Tigers! Keep reading! Elementary Soccer is underway! Good luck, Tigers! Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble! Jamie Anderson Get to know GSD s 1st & 2nd grade teacher The British Lit class has been studying Shakespeare s play, Macbeth. Stop by the library to bubble your own witch s brew as you enjoy a scene from this famous play! The class will attend a performance of Macbeth on Halloween at the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern. Favorite color: red Years at GSD: 19 Pets: one Schnauzer Favorite places to visit: Jamaica (and the Deaf community in Mandeville!) Why GSD students are great: GSD students are great because the bond Deaf people have with each other is so amazing to observe. They love their culture, their language and their Deaf friends. It is amazing to see how ASL just throws open the door of learning for our students.

4 The flu shot will be available for students and staff on October 30. With teacher Chad Moore, he attended and spoke at a luncheon honoring all the local schools students. Congratulations, Kenneth! The Economics class is selling homemade $2 cupcakes as a fundraiser for their trip to Atlanta s Federal Reserve Bank and lunch. Delicious!
