3 LEVEL ONE PRECEPTORSHIP OBJECTIVES The participant will learn: The rationale and scientific basis for the successful clinical practice. The current concepts, principles, and clinical methodology. DIDACTIC SESSIONS History and future of dental implantology. Biomechanical and biomaterial aspects of dental implantology. Physiology of bone as well as selection of implants with different designs and surfaces relating to bone density and planned Implant function. Anatomy of the maxilla and mandible. Anatomical structures (muscles, nerves, arteries) as they relate to implant placement. Philosophies of implant retention and stabilization. Treatment planning facets, including patient selection, past dental and medical history, essential diagnostic guides (casts. templates, etc.), documentation, appoinment sequencing with laboratory, surgeon, and restorative dentist. Essentials of joint treatment planning, and recall principles. Surgical and prosthodontic considerations including incision design, fixture and abutment selection, occlusal considerations and force transmission. Peri-implantitis and its effect on the dental implant from the infective and traumatic aspects. Post-restoration responsibilities of staff personnel, hygienist, surgeon and restorative dentist on a recall basis. The proper evaluation, diagnosis, and selection of patients. To develop and understand specific implant, surgical and prosthodontic skills. To manage the more difficult clinical situations. The practice management aspects of dental implantology. Implants are becoming more widely accepted for tooth replacement and denture retention. Gain the skills and knowledge to offer these services to your patients. 5 LEVEL THREE A SIMULATED IMPLANT PLACEMENT AND RESTORATIVE COURSE The patient treatment mannequins are the most advanced in the world. Receive the knowledge, skills and confidence that are essential to a successful implant practice. This three-day program provides lectures, lab observation, and hands-on instruction on simulated -patient mannequins that feature soft tissue and bone. Each learning station is equipped with a computer for accessing reference materials and has all simulated patient materials, including: radiographs, CT scans, and models. MEALEY, D.D.S., M.S., received his dental degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dental School in He attained his specialty certificate in Periodontics from Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base in 1990 and a Master of Science in Periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dental School. Dr. Mealey is a Professor and Director of the Periodontics Residency at UT Health San Antonio, School of Dentistry. E. MATTHEW LAMB, D.D.S., F.A.C.P., is a board certified prosthodontist and Director of the Residency in Advanced Prosthodontics at UT Health, San Antonio. Dr. Lamb graduated from New York University College of Dentistry. He pursued two years of advanced surgical and restorative training at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Due to commitments to these type of programs, any cancellation made before August 6, 2018 will be subject to an administrative fee assessment of 25% of total tuition plus applicable nonrefundable deposits. Any cancellation made after August 6, 2018 does not qualify for a refund. However, participants may choose to place their tuition minus an administrative, applicable nonrefundable deposits, and any direct cost fee assessment's into a holding account for future use.
