In addition to five-star service and luxurious amenities, the ULC is the only private club in the United States that carries out a systematic program of civic involvement. If you choose, you can participate in the work of our Public Affairs Committee, which addresses major issues of interest and concern to Club members. Working subcommittees change over time to meet the interests of members and needs of the community. The Club also prides itself on its unwavering support of our nation and the men and women who serve in the armed forces. Programs like the 721 Club and the Chicago 502 support military groups, and the Club also has its own American Legion Post.

12 Enrich YourCommunity Make a difference inchicago. The Club s philanthropic organizations include the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs, which serve more than 11,000 youths in the Chicago area. In addition, the Civic & Arts Foundation supports up-and-coming Chicago artists, and the Chicago Engineers Foundation offers incentive programs for students entering the field of engineering.

13 America s Number One City Club In 2009, the Union League Club of Chicago was voted America s number one city club. This honor was bestowed upon the ULC by Club Leaders Forum, an organization that conducts a nationwide survey of private clubs every three years. The survey is given to 6,000 general managers, presidents, directors and private club owners for their feedback. Participants vote for the best club in five categories city clubs, full-service country clubs, golf clubs, athletic clubs and yacht clubs on the following criteria: quality of membership, tradition and culture, amenities, governance, and quality of management and staff. Since the survey s inception in 1996, the Union League Club has steadily risen through the rankings, and is proud to stand among the best private clubs in the country.
