1 CENTRAL DENVER RECREATION CENTER PUBLIC MEETING
2 Goals Establish a preferred program for the center within the $24 million project budget. Respond to the demographics and survey findings. Meet the requirements of DPS and DPR. Build off of the work of the stakeholders.
3 Demographic Summary 55,047 in the Primary Service Area 125,971 in the Secondary Service Area Younger population, smaller households, few children Lower median household income levels Limited diversity Greatest growth in the next five years will be in youth and senior age groups
4 Survey Findings 2,100 surveys completed 65.5% were female; 34.5% male 84.3% were Caucasian; 5.9% Hispanic; 4.1% African/American 47% were age 21-39; 40.1% were age % either live alone or with one other person; 43.1% have 3-4 individuals in the residence

6 Survey Findings The primary reason to use an indoor aquatic facility. o 41.4% - Exercise/Lap Swimming o 33.7% - Recreational Swimming o 11.5% - Instructional Classes o 6.3% - Competitive Swimming/Diving o 4.5% - Would not use an indoor aquatic center o 2.4% - Physical Therapy
7 Survey Findings For the fitness components mentioned in this survey respondents were asked to rank them on a 1-4 scale with 1 being their first priority and 4 being their fourth priority. The following are the percentage of responses for each activity as a first priority: o Cardio Training 36.8% o Strength Training 28.4% o Group Exercise 23.8% o Individual Stretching/Pilates Area 10.9%
8 Survey Findings The respondents were asked to provide an opinion on what type of gymnasium they would like in a new facility. o 56.4% - 1 full-size basketball court and 1 (indoor) synthetic turf field o 27.3% - 2 full-size basketball courts o 16.4% - 1 full-size basketball court
9 Survey Findings Respondents were also asked to indicate their priority as it related to other amenities, in ranking said activities on a 1-5 scale. The following percentages are only the number 1 responses for each amenities: o Drop-in Child Care 35.8% o Elevated Walk/Jog Track 34.4% o Rock Wall 27.6% o Racquetball 21.6% o Dedicated Senior Space 15.1% o Dedicated Teen Space 14.0% o Youth Activities Room 12.0% o Classrooms/Community Meeting Rooms 11.9% o Café/Lounge 11.5% o Arts & Crafts Rooms 8.3% o Game Room 6.2%
