2 ABOUT US No matter who you are, we inspire, we care, we train, we have fun in our community. ROOM HIRE St George s Community Centre is a warm, welcoming building close to Wakefield City Centre & next to motorway links. We have a variety of rooms and spaces available to hire, whether it s for a group activity, training session, seminar or interviewing on a one-off or regular basis. We also have office space to let. We have an IT suite and training rooms with laptops and Wi-Fi connection, OHP s, flip charts, multimedia projector, TV, video/dvd, and whiteboards. We have more generous rooms suitable for larger conferences and seminars. We can also provide refreshments. Whatever the purpose of your meeting we can adapt the layout and facilities of the room to suit your individual needs. The building has disabled access, toilets and offers free parking. 2

Sunbeam based in Lupset Sessional care, term time only for children aged 2 to 5 years. Ideal for families who want to help prepare their child for school or want a little time to themselves. Call Alyson St George s based in Lupset Full day care, all year round, 8am to 6pm for children from birth to 5 years. Ideal for families who work, study or need more than 3 hours per day. 8 VOLUNTEERS St George s Community Centre recognises the value of volunteers and aims to provide local people with constructive and relevant volunteering opportunities to help enable them gain new skills and experiences as well as create new friendships. If you have any spare time at all, whether it be an hour or more, and are willing and able to help out then drop into the Centre or ring us. We have many different roles available such as: Gardener Nursery Helper Kitchen Assistant BiLi (cycling project) assistant Youth Worker And many more. LUNCH CLUB St George s runs a weekly lunch club on Fridays at 12 noon. The lunch is all fresh and home cooked by volunteers as well as staff. We are a friendly bunch and welcome new people so if you feeling lonely or just want to chat with new people then why not come along and give it a try. It s only 4 for three courses! 8
9 TUESDAY LEISURE CLUB Are you lonely, isolated or simply want to make new friends? Do you manage a long term health condition? Why not come along to our social afternoon Tuesdays from 1.30pm until 3.30pm? The group is small, friendly, informative and welcoming so why not join us for a cuppa and a chat. It s only 3.00 and this goes towards the running costs which include having regular activities including an annual trip to the seaside. For details contact Or call in at the Centre DEMENTIA CAFÉ First Wednesday of Every Month 1pm-3pm Our Dementia Café provides a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for people with dementia and their carers to socialise. As well as offering a range of fun and engaging activities, Dementia Cafés give both carers and people with dementia a chance to get information and advice and talk to others with similar problems. These regular social groups improve wellbeing and reduce isolation for whole families. New friendships are often formed and people who attend can leave the sessions feeling like they have a better quality of life. 9

11 YOUTH CAFÉ Our Youth Café runs twice weekly on Wednesday & Friday evenings, the Café is open to ages years. Our aim is to offer a place where young people can come along and meet friends, develop new skills, access other services and have fun in a safe environment. There is always someone to talk to for advice and guidance. We run a whole host of activities from surfing the net, arts and crafts, Wii console challenge, team games; rounders, cricket and more!
