5 Youth and Schools, Humanitarian Education Volunteer 18+ The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives. Humanitarian Education explores issues and values that enable young people to understand, cope with and respond to crises so that they are more resilient in a crisis. The delivery is done in schools and other youth settings. Humanitarian Education volunteers deliver interactive sessions on a variety of topics such as the impact of conflict, migration, living with HIV and Aids and the work of the Red Cross. The sessions are designed to develop a range of skills, attitudes and abilities that help make young people resilient. These are focused on improving young people s communication, their ability to work with others, their capacity to manage themselves, their ability to take action and their capacity to deal with uncertainty. This is a regional Humanitarian Education volunteer role. Volunteers must be free to attend training on the following dates (10.00am pm) in Moneymore. 23rd Oct 30th Oct & 6th Nov 13th Nov - Welcome workshop, safeguarding and volunteer registration - Humanitarian Education Presenter Training - Humanitarian Education Workshops Training For further information contact Gemma Robinson on or gemmarobinson@redcross.org.uk The deadline for applying for this volunteer role is 17th October 2012.
