3 What has Happened This Year! The main event this year was the opening of an overnight shelter. We opened in February with all volunteers and operated it until May. We had to close down due to a lack of volunteers. We decided that we would reopen the shelter in November with three paid employees and will continue the shelter as a year-round effort. In 2016 we provided lodging to 109 individuals through this program. The shelter is open to men, women and children and is based on behavior. The second major addition to our line-up of services is our Education and Employment Program that is run by our new Outreach Director, Nancy Olsten. She is now offering GED, Hope Classes and Employment assistance that includes Resume Building. This year our Board of Directors underwent training through the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions called the Ripple Affect. It was a comprehensive, 9-month process of converting our Board to a Carver Model Governance Board. As a result of this process we removed the Executive Director from the Board and now have a completely independent Board of Directors. Our new Board Chairman is Joe Summers. A great deal of work was done on our building this year, mostly due to a grant and work day by the Home Depot. Sewage lines were run in the High Bay area for our new hygiene center, kitchen and laundry.

4 Our Volunteers The Heart of the Mission Our Mission could not exist without our volunteers. They perform a number of tasks from washing clothes, sorting clothes, cutting hair, teaching skills and so much more. Our Volunteers are truly the Heart of the Mission and we want to thank them for all they do. This year our meal volunteers contributed over 22,000 hours of labor in cooking, cleaning and serving our Guests.

5 FINANCIALS In 2016, our budget of $430,000 was $20,000 less than 2015 while we increased the services we provided. This was mostly due to consolidation and cost cutting efforts. 6 From the Executive Director: Dear Partners, This has been a banner year for me here at the Mission. I was finally removed from the Board through the Ripple Affect, a goal of mine for a few years. The Board and I spent 9 months in training and completely rewrote our policies to match the Carver Model. It was a refreshing time and a delight to see our Board of Directors involved and learning. We added three new paid employees to our shelter staff. This was in an effort to ensure that we could keep our shelter open year round. We still need volunteers to supplement our paid employees but can operate the shelter even if we are short of volunteers. We also began the actual work of reconstruction. We did this with the help of a number of volunteers who scraped walls, pulled up old carpet and grout from the floors upstairs, removed concrete and dug trenches. As we ended the year, we were well on our way to seeing the new sewer lines completed in the rear of the building. These lines will service the hygiene center for our overnight shelter, the laundry and our new kitchen. We are still a long way from completion but it has been a nice start. Our Renovation budget is $2,900,000 and we have raised 12% of that to date; but, we do what we can with the funds that come in and God is blessing us in the process.
