We would like to invite all Peer Support Workers to attend and actively contribute to its development. Acknowledgments to Helen Farrell, who has brought this to fruition. Consultations Interested in being part of a paid focus group? Curtin University's School of Nursing and Midwifery is undergoing a curriculum review and accreditation for its Bachelor of Science (Nursing) degree. The review is a consultative process and the School is seeking direction and feedback. We are seeking consumers with an active voice who have experienced health care by Registered Nurses in any of the following contexts: Mental Health, Aged Care (without Dementia), Community Care, Acute/Medical Surgical (recent), Family, Paediatric, and Aboriginal Health. The consumer could also be a Carer and a young mother.

2 The focus group will be held on Saturday 14th June, 10am-11am at Curtin University. Parking is free on weekends, and the University is accessible via public transport. Taxi vouchers can be issued on request. Participants will be reimbursed $30. If you would like to participate, please contact Angela Pollard, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Curtin on or Seeking participants for research Matthew Carter is currently undertaking a PhD at UWA exploring Comorbidity and Recovery (Alcohol Use Disorders and severe Mood/Anxiety Disorders) and is seeking participants for research into helping people with mental health and alcohol problems. Would you be interested in helping others in this area? We are looking for people who identify as doing well overall for 2 years or longer, and also for carers/supporters of people with current or past mental health and alcohol problems. Participation would involve 2 interviews for consumers and 1 for carers at a time and place convenient to you. Gift vouchers are offered to consumers ($50) and carers ($25) as a token of appreciation. To listen to the audio interview follow the link: Angelhands Fundraising Campaign Angelhands supports people affected by homicide and serious personal violence. It provides individual counselling and role-modelling through Befriending, group holistic healing therapies, weekend retreats, advocacy and community education, referrals and preventative programs aimed at reducing violence and revictimisation. Angelhands requires funding post July this year to continue operations, therefore is launching 50K in 50 days fundraising campaign. It investigates the art of being a great Support Group facilitator, how it is different from other types of leaders and what makes the role so unique. It studies the roles and communication skills of a great facilitator and how to be an active listener. The presence of effective active listening is often what best enables a Support Group to bring about positive change for participants! 4 This training is designed to increase understanding of suicidal behaviour, identify people at risk, learn how to undertake a risk assessment and develop strategies for effective intervention. Numbers will be limited so register early to avoid disappointment. He is the previous National Co-ordinator of the World Hearing Voices Network, his work in innovative Recovery based practice, service design, working with psychosis, distressing voices and sexual abuse has been taught around the world. Ron draws on his own experience of recovery from mental distress and sexual abuse following some 13 years in and out of the psychiatric hospital system in the UK. Who Should Attend?
