Len has started a GoFundMe campaign to Support Stand Down. There is more information on page 3 of this newsletter. The link to the GoFundMe page is Jack got a call from Mayor s Top Teens wanting to know if we wanted to continue our support. 2 On October 27th, 2017, the American Legion Post 10, The Community of Hope, The El Paso Veterans Affairs (VA) and the VetCenter of Las Cruces will be hosting Stand Down Stand Down is a nationwide event held in local communities with the purpose of aiding the homeless veteran population in getting back on their feet. The Las Cruces Stand Down will provide veterans access to VA services and healthcare, contact with the local community outreach services, find opportunities for gainful employment, receive new or used clothing for the winter months and hygiene items. Many of these basics things can make a difference in the life of a homeless person and sometimes taken for granted by many that are not homeless. This year we are in need of undergarment for both women and men, back packs, hygiene items for women and men and clothing that will allow them to use for interviews and warmth through the winter. We are asking you for cash or in-kind donations to make this event a success. All donations are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated. On a single night in the United States of America, there were 549,928 homeless people in Of those homeless, 39,471 were veterans. Through programs like The Community of Hope and events like these, the homeless veteran population has decreased by 8,000 people or 17% between 2010 through The Stand Down 2017 is on October 27th from 8 am to 2 pm at the American Legion Post 10 in Las Cruces, NM. Thank you for your time and consideration in support of the stand down event. If you have questions regarding this event, please contact Andrea Sandoval, Chair Committee, Combat Veterans on Point. She can be ed at andrea@combatveteransonpoint.com.

Any size or style.
