3606 A note from the Principal Our fall conferences will be taking place on Thursday (Nov 15 th ) and Tuesday (Nov 20 th ).

Our annual Pullman Turkey/Bingo Dinner will take place on Thursday (Nov 8th) from 5:00-6:45 in our school gymnasium.

A huge thank you goes out to Hayley Klegstad, Mindy Sylte and Sarah Krueger who organized our Fall Carnival.

A huge thanks also goes out to our many volunteers who set up equipment and helped clean up at the end!

Directions were sent home for you to sign up on-line for your child s conference. If you need help signing up, please call Our annual Pullman Turkey/Bingo Dinner will take place on Thursday (Nov 8th) from 5:00-6:45 in our school gymnasium. There will be bingo and prizes that evening! This is a great community event and we look forward to seeing many of our families that evening. Please, do not turn or proceed until the patrols no longer have the flags extended into street. 2

3 AVID at Pullman By: Shelley Goecke It has been a great month at Pullman! We have had a lot of AVID activities going on in our building. We hosted an AVID Showcase on October 11, and had an opportunity to show other districts all the things we do at the elementary level with AVID. Our guests in attendance were from all over the Midwest, and they were quite impressed with how we are upholding AVID's mission which is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. Our students showed our guests how they use their binders and planners, how they take notes, and how they use WICOR strategies during math to deepen their learning. Our AVID Club has been busy preparing to serve our school and community, and had their first guest speaker. Trina Patterson, our district s new Educational Achievement and Integration Coordinator shared with our students her educational and career journey. Our students really enjoyed listening to the children s book she published about differences between people! It is not too late to have your student join AVID Club! Have your student stop by my room (104) and ask for an application. This club is for students in grades 3-5. Do you want to be a guest speaker for our AVID Club? We are looking for any adult with postsecondary educational experiences to share with our students! We especially would love someone in the trades (electrician, plumber, HVAC, mechanic, etc.) me at sgoecke@sowashco.org. 3

To all of the volunteers, Park High School Key Club, Girl Scouts, and parents who donated their time, pop, baked goods and support to this year s Fall Carnival you guys are awesome! This year s carnival is a reflection of all your hard work so again, thank you! Fall fundraiser reminder: Cookie dough pick-up is November 1 st from 3:15-6:00. We are looking for a President, Vice President, and Treasurer to take over for next year. Hayley, Sarah, and Mindy have all served 2 years in each position and cannot hold another year in office. We would like to find someone now to help with the transition into next year. For treasurer we ask that you have an accounting/finance background. Pullman is in need of more volunteers for upcoming events such as the Holiday Shoppe, teacher appreciation week, spring dance, and end of the year field day. Remember clip the box tops while you are baking and cooking the Thanksgiving feast. Our next meeting will be Monday November 5 th from 6-7. Free child care in the gym during all PTA meetings. We are a fun group looking for parents who want to be involved in their child s education.
