These concerts will include all students in the school. Children are welcome to dress up or bring dress clothes to change into. In order to keep our students comfortable on the risers, we are asking that students not dress too warm. Dressing in layers is a good idea. This will be a vocal concert only, band and orchestra will perform at another time. In order to avoid parking issues, we are asking that friends and family choose one of the two concerts to attend. Both concerts will be the same. Please encourage students to come to school when they can! School begins at 8:45. The first bell rings at 8:35. Supervision on the playground starts at 8:20. Please be punctual! Holiday Basket Project Applications In order to guarantee that your family is assigned a sponsor early, PLEASE RETURN YOUR APPLICATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. No applications will be accepted after December 10, 2018 Families can return applications to the school office and we will mail them out for you. *If you are interested in sponsoring a Holiday Basket please contact the school office and we will send you the information. 2 Winter Weather Is Upon Us! Students will go outside for recess when the wind chill factor is above 0. Please have your student prepared for the winter weather; heavy coat, hat, gloves/mittens and boots. Snow pants help to keep extra warm too! An extra set of clothing, especially socks at school is also a good idea! Students can choose to change if they are wet after playing outside. Veteran s Day lunch Student Council will be ringing the Salvation Army Bell at Wal-Mart on Thursday, Dec 6th 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Student Council would like to thank everyone who donated change to the Loose Change Challenge. Mrs. Kollross Class and Ms. Weber s Class were the winners and will be choosing the two staff members that will have a pie in their face. With the money raised and a donation from Student Council, we are able to present a check to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight for $ On November 9th we hosted 52 veterans and guests for lunch. Holiday Shoppe (formerly Santa s Workshop), needs help!! It s getting to be that time of year again! Holiday Shoppe will take place at Kennedy School on December 18th and 19th in the gym.

With all gifts priced from $.50-$2.00, children can browse through Holiday Shoppe and buy something for each family member. Pet gifts will also be available. Funded and staffed by the P.T.O.

Holiday Shoppe is a unique holiday shopping opportunity for the children at Kennedy School. It offers the children a wide variety of family gifts to purchase at very reasonable prices. With all gifts priced from $.50-$2.00, children can browse through Holiday Shoppe and buy something for each family member. Pet gifts will also be available. Funded and staffed by the P.T.O., Holiday Shoppe is filled with hundreds of gifts that volunteers have purchased or donated throughout the year. Volunteers are needed for shopping for items to sell at the Holiday Shoppe, and for working at the Holiday Shoppe on Dec 18 & 19! We are also in need of the following donations: scotch tape, ribbons, small gift bags, tissue paper, and small boxes. (We do NOT need wrapping paper this year as we have a large supply!) Please contact Kim or barrelinn@gmail.com with questions or to volunteer. With the inclement weather that we are due to see in Wisconsin, please be sure to tune to the local news and radio stations or our district website ( for up to date weather cancellations for the Stevens Point Area Public School District schools. Be certain your child knows where to go if she/he arrives home due to an emergency closing and you are not there. Question your child from time to time about what they would do in this type of situation. Information Station: As you enter the front doors you will find an information rack. They will work with MAP data and try to increase students exposure to online testing. Kennedy 3 rd grade will be piloting keyboarding for 6 weeks. In-service days for staff: continue to work on technology; Kennedy now has 1:1 ratio of devices to students and devices will continue to be updated/replaced as needed. (Typical spending per category: $?? Thanks again to Amanda Weinfurter for chairing this event!! Fall Apparel: some concern with sizing was expressed at the PTO meeting. New Business: Winter Concert Seat Raffle: letter will go home Monday, November 26 th w/drawing on Friday, November 30 th, at the end of the school day. Spaghetti Dinner: date set for Thursday, April 4 th. Other: The Phy Ed teacher, Mrs. Luetschwager, received a donation of archery targets from the DNR. Therefore, a motion was made and approved to amend the previously approved amount from archer targets to archery equipment. This will allow replacement of needed equipment at the end of the unit. Note regarding BGC: Some concern was expressed at the PTO meeting about the PTO funding BGC. While the PTO does make a yearly donation to BGC, the PTO is not funding BGC and no request was made to fund BGC. The note sent home in the October PTO minutes was to inform families who utilize BGC that BGC is not guaranteed to remain at Kennedy School. By informing families, they can express their concerns directly to BGC. Shared in the October Newsletter: Mrs. Granger follow-up information: BGC morning program is currently being funded by Stevens Point Area Senior District with Title IV grant funding. BGC in Junction City is not currently a United Way funded location, as other locations are. BGC families are encouraged to participate in a survey that will run from October 31st to November 14th. Watch your for the link. Families are encouraged to express interests in this survey. The next PTO meeting is Monday, December 17 5:45. After a quick meeting, we will help set up for the Holiday Shoppe. All are welcome!
