4 Personnel Update Starting September 19 th Adam Hughes will be expanding his role within HealthLinkNY and moving into VP of Operations and Community Development Phillip Ginter will at that time be moving into the position of Director of Community Initiatives Jessica Krohn was hired for the Southern Tier HAPN Program Manager position, and started in August 4

9 Behavioral Health Work Group Library Trainings Had a meeting with the library systems Newburgh to be the pilot library Held a short training at the Newburgh Library on their staff development day, conducted by MHA Orange Mental Health First Aid training to be held in October, provided by Mobile Mental Health Waiting on approval from state to attend Train the trainer in Syracuse in November Libraries are also interested in Narcan, and SafeTALK 9

10 Behavioral Health Work Group Stigma Reduction / Stigma Free Initiative Waiting on state approval to partner with the Southern Tier HAPN to contract CauseWave to create a Stigma Reduction toolkit. Initial ideas from the group are that it will be an interactive web based kit, that has information for families, consumers, and providers, as well as resources for all groups. Hosted a meeting with the NAMI s in the region, to get more information on the anti-stigma work they are doing 10

12 Local Health Departments PA Workgroup Meeting bi-monthly to discuss CHA s and increase collaboration between the LHD s regionally next meeting is in October. 12

13 L.I.F.T Population Health Grant Linking Interventions For Total Population Health 13

14 L.I.F.T Population Health Grant Grant implementation has 3 buckets of approach, that must focus on one of five priority areas identified by the Prevention Agenda: (1) traditional clinical prevention (2) innovative clinical prevention and (3) total population or community-wide prevention We are taking the lead applying for this grant opportunity, and will be working with the Orange County Department of Health Our Priority Area: Prevent and Control Obesity and Diabetes 14

16 Data Collection From June 2015 January 2016, HAPN Southern Tier conducted a stakeholder analysis specific to health disparities and the social determinants of health. 238 Stakeholders across the 5 counties (Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Tioga, Tompkins). HAPN Staff ed out the slides containing the data analysis performed by the public health researcher from Binghamton University. At the last meeting there was interest expressed in conducting a similar analysis. 16

This is an opportunity to reflect on the past year to identify what worked well, areas to revisit/enhance, and to recharge the energy and efforts of HAPN Hudson Valley. Discussion. 17
