1 Director: Sabine Ingerson Oswego County Edition February 2007 ARISE Oswego 253 East 10th Street Oswego, NY (315) ARISE Pulaski 2 Broad Street Pulaski, NY (315) WHAT S INSIDE: ARISE News Volunteers To Build Ramps Tax Preparation Available Little League Baseball The Challenger Division Ages 5 to 21 In Oswego, thanks to the Challenger Division, all youths are given a chance to play regardless of limitations. This division, now in its tenth year, was created for all students age 5 to 21 who needed more support and modified rules to make this a challenging but not a discouraging experience. The players range from those who need minimal help to those who are paired with a buddy who might act as a guide, assist with catching the ball, or push the wheelchair of a player who has a mobility impairment. A game consists of three innings and everyone gets a chance to bat. Players learn sportsmanship and team play as well as fair play. All games will be played Friday evenings at 6 p.m. in June and July on the accessible Lagoe Field at Fort Ontario Baseball Complex. In August, all Challenger League teams in Onondaga and Oswego County will play a final game at Alliance Bank Stadium. There will also be a game and picnic for all Little League teams inside Fort Ontario. T-shirts and hats will be provided for all players. If you have any questions regarding the Challenger Division, please contact Sabine Ingerson at (day) or (evening).
