Also inducted was Lion Kyle Shuttlesworth, second from right, who received his pin from his sponsor Lion Dave Ruesink. Total club membership is now 153. We began the club year on July 1 with 141. HOH 15: Sell Sponsorships, Buy Tickets, Sign Up to Help Help is needed in many areas for the upcoming Honoring Our Heroes fundraiser. Neal McCoy is the entertainment for the club s 2015 event. If you know a business person who is a potential sponsor, call Lion Gay at or Sponsor tables seat eight four sponsors/guests and four first responders/guests. Sponsor tables are $1,000. Individual tickets are $75.

2 Watch for the sign-up sheets at club meetings, and volunteer to help that night. All Lions are needed. Proceeds from the event are shared by the CS Noon, Bryan Noon and Evening Lions Clubs, and the 100 Club.. PDG Floyd Golan Receives Life Membership PDG Floyd Golan received a life membership in Lions International from the club on Monday. Lion Golan has been a Lion 50 years. He joined the club in March 1965 and was sponsored by Lion Cecil Ryan (deceased). Lion Golan was the club president. FELLOW LIONS CLUB MEMBERS LIFE MEMBER. PDG Floyd Golan, left, is presented an LCI Life Membership by President Lion Caleb Holt. PDG Golan was district convention chair , District Leader Dog chair , District Governor , Lions Club International Foundation chair and currently chairs the 2015 MD-2 Texas Lions State Convention planning committee. PDG Golan is a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and a Jack Wiech Fellow. Other living CSNL life members are: Lion T.J. Hirsch, Lion Phil Hobson and Lion Charles Pinnell. We Made It! $50,000 for Texas Lions Camp C ollege Station Noon Lions Club exceeded its $50,000 pledge to the Texas Lions Camp, and we did it 18 months ahead of schedule. One of the fund -raising methods was for the club to provide $500 in matching funds to Lions donating a Jack Wiech Fellowship. Monday four Lions were recognized as Jack Wiech Fellows. Lion Carolyn Young, Lion Don Bailey, Lion Elmer Krehbiel and Lion Joe West received progressive fellowships. Thank you for awarding a Lions International Life Membership to me. One sees many changes over the years of Lions service. Our club has always been a leader at the club and district level. The many opportunities afforded to me through club membership have been very self-rewarding. I m appreciative of each Lions friendship! I hope our club can always say we serve and continue to make an impact as a club in the BCS area. Again thank you for the Life Membership honor. I am looking forward to continued service with you my fellow Lions! Floyd Golan Lion Young received her first and second fellowships. Lion Bailey received his fifth progressive Jack Wiech Fellowship. For both Lion Krehbiel and Lion West, it was their third progressive award. (See photo on p. 4)

3 Awards Galore HOLIDAY STARS. Christmas Tree Chair Lion Carl Stewart, left, presented thank-yous to Lions who went the extra mile during the 2014 fundraiser, which netted $9,000. Those honored include, second from left, Lion Rodger Koppa, Lion Karl Mooney, Lion Michael Kellett, Lion Ann Kellett, Lion Carol Binzer and Lion President Caleb Holt. Lion Stewart singled out PDG John Rauser as the go-to person when quick action was needed (see photo below). GO-TO GOV. PDG John Rauser, left, was commended by Lion Carl Stewart for quick action in mobilizing a bucket brigade to get water to the Christmas trees. Lion Rauser received a new bucket and garden hose to replace ones lost in action. IN APPRECIATION. Kevin Reim, owner of Redtail Rental in College Station was presented a certificate of apprecation Monday for his help with the Christmas tree lot. 4 . VISIONARIES. Past District Governors Danny Stribling, left, and Ron Gay were recognized Monday as Visionaries for the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank. A gift of $100 or more per year will make you a Visionary, too. PROGRESSIVE THINKERS. Four Noon Lions received progressive Jack Wiech Fellowships to the Texas Lions Camp Monday. From left, Lion Carolyn Young (two awards), Lion Don Bailey (his fifth), Lion Elmer Krehbiel (his third) and Lion Joe West (his third). It takes $1,000 to fund a Jack Wiech Fellowship. Depending on the availability of funds, the club has matched $500 member donations to fully fund a fellowship. JUDGES APPLAUDED. 5 President Seeks Feedback Club s Next Big Challenge Dear Lions, M onday s business meeting was full of excitement and recognition for the outstanding service our club and its members have performed. I was excited to see so many Lions recognized and honored. I want to let you all know that each individual award deserves full recognition. To each of our recipients, I want to say Thank You for walking the walk of our motto, We Serve. Among the many awards, there are two items that has weighed heavily on my heart, and I feel the need to write this. The first is the extraordinary efforts of our club to make and complete our pledge of $50,000 to Texas Lions Camp, 18 months in advance. As a young Lion, it has been humbling to serve as your Texas Lions Camp Director and see firsthand the tremendous support for the TLC. On my next trip for our Board meeting on Saturday, February 7, 2015, I will get to present our club s check to complete our pledge. What an honor. Just this past Monday we handed out a Jack Wiech and four Progressives. Thank you Lions. I aim to ensure we let our community know about this accomplishment. College Station Noon Lions Club, much like my employer, sometimes we forget to share our accomplishments. This is our opportunity to tell the community our story and with this year our 65 th Birthday, we have a lot to tell. Now we have the opportunity to once again become our community s leading service organization with a pledge for Fun for All Playground. Pending City Council approval next month, there will be 15 zones in the park that allow naming rights for donations of $100,000. Since my first day as your President, I have stated it is my goal to position our club to reach $100,000 in annual giving. We have taken specific actions to increase our fundraising. We will be introducing All Things Chocolate, Jazz Fest and a bike ride to our annual fundraisers. Our club was given a tremendously, generous donation of a 1958 Rolls Royce. I told our board last week, that the best part about being President in Lions Club, unlike some other presidents, I have the ability see through my actions after my term. I plan to play a leading role ensuring our club completes our pledge. Action Item: I am requesting your support for our club to make a three year pledge of $100,000. When I sign the pledge I would like to know you will help our club reach this goal? I know we can accomplish this this task, and I am asking for your support. Lion David Gerling, left, was presented a Certificate of Appreciation Monday by Lion President Caleb Holt. The award recognizes Lion Gerling s leadership as co-chair of the Fun for All Playground planned for Central Park.

6 The Fine Print Christmas tree sales netted more than $9, Proposed bike ride is on hold until next year because of construction on Rock Prairie Road and other conflicts.... $740 collected from club members plus an anonymous $260 donation funded two HD televisons for the Lone Star Eye Bank.... Also, the family of Kaitlin Hobson donated $1,000 to the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank.... Administrative fund balance: $1,683. Project fund balance: $25,180. Brazos Lions Clubs Foundation: $1, Lion Gib Sawtelle reports his helpers have entered all 200 recipes for the chocolate cookbook into the data base.... Six bands have committed so far for Jazz Fest 2015 on April Lion Dick Phelps is the chair.... The Rolls Royce committee continues to meet and work out plans for the upcoming fundraiser.... Special guests Monday included District 2-S5 1 st VDG Jim Fox of Weimar and 2 nd VDG Michael Smalley of La Grange.... Lion Ray Naylor is looking for more volunteers to serve on the I Love America celebration committee.... Four Lions were recognized this week with Membership Growth Awards. They are Lion Agustin Trevino, Lion Joe Hobson, Lion Judy LeUnes, Lion Ray Naylor and Lion Richard Spiller. HAPPY 90 TH, ELMER. CS Noon Lions celebrated Lion Elmer Krehbiel s 90 th birthday this week. His actual birthday is Friday, Jan. 30. PLAQUE IN HAND. Lion of the Year James Haverland, right, received his LOY plaque Monday. The plaque was not available at the Christmas party when he was announced as the 2014 recipient. RARE RECOGNITION. Past President Lion Don Dickenson, left, was one of only two district presidents to receive the President s Club Excellence Award for service last year.
