Please see the excerpts below: On behalf of The Burrito Project South Pasadena/Lincoln Heights, we would like to warmly thank you, St. Thomas More, for your charitable donation of 1,448 brand new socks. For three years, your generosity has helped the marginalized people who reside on the streets of Downtown Los Angeles. Because of people like you, the homeless on Skid Row see the goodness of God. I was touched by your concern and compassion for refugees. It is encouraging and heartwarming to hear how excited you are about raising money for this vital cause. TRIP: Mrs. Rodriguez will be leading the Jr. high students on a trip to Washington D.C. in March The deadline to register is Thursday, October 29, There is 1 spot left! Click on the link for further information: Washington DC Trip HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL: This Friday, we will be having our annual Halloween Festival! We would like to remind everyone of appropriate costume attire for school. Costumes may be worn to school on Halloween, but need to be SAFE, comfortable, and appropriate (NOT sexy or TOO scary). Weapons of any sort are not allowed. Children wearing masks will be allowed to wear them in the parade, but not while playing at the booths. The parade will begin at approximately 8:45 am. Dismissal will be at noon. If you plan on leaving before noon, you may sign out your child with the teacher on duty at the gate. DONATION FOR SPORTS HALLOWEEN BOOTH: Please drop off donations for the Halloween Sports Food Booth in the office by tomorrow. ONE SIGHT: This Halloween, STM students are again asked to collect more than just candy. Sight Night is part of a national collection drive for eyeglasses. See enclosed flyer. VETERANS MASS: STM will be honoring all Veterans on Monday, November 9th. After 8:30 am, the Veterans will be treated to a continental breakfast in the Hall. Please complete the attached form if a family member/friend will be attending. PARENT SURVEY: As we prepare for our WASC accreditation next year, we are asking parents to take part in a second survey, focused on curriculum and instruction. The survey is completely anonymous. Please click on the following link STM Parent Survey and complete the survey by Wednesday, November 4th. Thank you! STM SCHOOL PICTURES: Pictures will be sent home today. If your child did not take his/her picture on 9/21, they must come dressed in formal uniform on Monday, 11/9 to take their picture. If you are not satisfied with your child s picture, they may also re-take it on this day. Please bring back the complete picture package.

Best of luck Falcons! Last Thursday, October 22nd, we hosted 21 high schools for our annual High School Information Night. Many of our former students are now ambassadors for Catholic high schools. Junior high students will be having a Pageant of the Saints Celebration! It will be held on Monday, November 2 nd at 10:30 a.m. in the STM Parish Hall. All students will be dressed up as saints. They will tell us about who they are and what they are known for in our Catholic faith and history. Junior high parents are welcome to attend! 3 Zombie Walk (AKA Cake Walk) We need your help and an easy way to get service hours!! Donate one baked cake or 12 cupcakes and earn ONE SERVICE HOUR. (3 Hours Maximum) Purchase a cake and earn ONE SERVICE HOUR for each $10.00 spent. (3 Hours Maximum) Drop off the cakes/cupcakes on the morning of the Halloween Festival Friday, October 30, 2015, Room 4 (Extended Care Room). 4 Dear Parents, This Halloween, St. Thomas More School students are strongly encouraged to collect more than candy. As a school-wide mission, from now until our annual Halloween Festival, we would like to participate in Sight Night, which focuses on giving. Sight Night is part of a national collection drive conducted annually by OneSight, a family of charitable vision care programs sponsored by the LensCrafters Foundation in conjunction with Lions Clubs International. Each year, LensCrafters volunteers and doctors help more than 500,000 people worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, one-fourth of the world needs corrective eyewear, but many people, especially those in developing countries do not have access to it. OneSight sponsors optical missions to developing countries such as Mexico, Bolivia, Laos, Thailand, and to people in need across North America. OneSight volunteers clean, repair, and classify the prescriptions and then hand-deliver them to people in developing countries. OneSight invites you to lift the spirits of people in need by collecting used prescription eyeglasses and non-prescription sunglasses. Send the eyeglasses/sunglasses with your child and help the world see this Halloween. Thank you in advance for your support and God bless you.

5 Pageant of the Saints Celebration Junior high students will be having a Pageant of the Saints Celebration! It will be held on Monday, November 2 nd at 10:30 a.m. in the STM Parish Hall. All students will be dressed up as saints. They will tell us about who they are and what they are known for in our Catholic faith and history. We are celebrating the feasts of All Saints Day (November 1 st ) and All Souls Day (November 2 nd ) with our saintly people of faith. Junior high parents are welcome to attend!
