Assisting to hold the summit forum about the protection of cultural heritage with optical precision detection and scientific instrument in Shenzhen China On April 7, 2013, the summit forum about the protection of cultural heritage with optical precision detection and scientific instrument was held in Shenzhen Wuzhou Guest House. It is sponsored by The Chinese Academy of Engineering. Our SPIE student members workedd for this conference as volunteers. This conferencee providedd such a great opportunity for students of our SPIE chapter to touch with the most advanced science and technologt gies. Meanwhile, wee got moree actual experience in organizing a big conference. 2. Attending the 4 th Spring Forum of Shenzhen Optical Society On May 18, 2013, we attended the 4 th Spring Forum of Shenzhen Optical Society at Shenzhen University. We had a great chance to see what happened in other research groups and a close discussion about the work thatt they had been focusing on.

Attendance to the 2013 Student Leadership Workshop and O+ +P This summer, chapter president Meng Wang as a representative, attended the 2013 SPIE annual meeting O+P and the student leadership workshop in San Diego, CA. Good connections and communications have been built between our chapter and many other student chapterss all over the world. In the student leadershipp workshop, we got many useful advices on how to develop ourr daily management of the chapter andd improve our chapter behaviors. 4. Hold seminars for communication andd exchanging ideas among members. Seminars is our traditional activity since the built-up of this club. We

6 SHENZHEN UNIVERSITY STUDENTT CHAPTER OF SPIE continued holding these seminars once a month orr more, and provided a comfortable environment for communication and a exchanging ideas among members. Together we share our experience e in scientific research. We also arranged some basic trainings on methodss of doingg experiments and data treating, etc. 5. Team building In 2013, we continued to organize chapter sports activities. We held many different kinds of sports activities on each weekend, such as basketball, badminton and table-tennis. During the sports activities a our members enjoyed themselves and built a profound friendship eachh other. This really help to make the chapter run more efficiently y. Details of planned activities for the future 1. Continue holding our seminars and job-hunting experience sharing workshops which have already been proved to be successful and useful. 2. Electing the new committees for our chapter. We hope the fresh blood will bring more ideas and benefits to our chapter.

Inviting professors with excellent works to give us lecture about the most recent techniques and theories that happen in Optics and Photonics 4. inviting some leaders of famous companies to give us lectures. Try to make some communication with some famous companies, in order to search job opportunities for our members 5. Enhancing the connections between our chapter and other Chinese student clubs of SPIE. 6. Continue supporting outdoor and indoor activities for our members. Our goal is to provide a comfortable way for members to take a relaxation after scientific research. Financial Information 1. Beginning balance Total: 34USD 2.
