5 Target Audience: Health care professionals (MDs, NPs, PAs, RNs, RDs), faculty in medical, nursing, nutrition and other health professional schools, and nutrition scientists and public health professionals Activity Goal: Nutrition 2018 is designed to foster sharing of cutting-edge research on nutrition research advances and promote an interest in and stimulate discussion about evidence-based nutrition practice for health care providers. Learner Objectives/Outcomes: At the conclusion of the activity, learners will be able to: 1. Discuss research advances in basic and clinical science of nutrition, obesity, metabolism and related conditions; 2. Critically appraise current nutrition and obesity research and identify opportunities, if appropriate, for integrating research findings into clinical practice; 3. Share ideas, information and experiences among investigators and clinicians in nutrition, medicine and related fields of interest; 4. Review the latest research findings on nutrition strategies across the lifespan and for special health conditions (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer); 5. Identify new research in areas with identified research gaps; and 6. Formulate a career development path to strengthen an interest in basic and clinical nutrition science. ACGME/ABMS and IOM competencies this activity will address: Medical/clinical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, and employ evidence-based practice. TUSM is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. TUSM designates this live activity for a maximum of 21 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
