3 / 01 General nformaton 1. General nformaton Wth the purchase of ths system you have made a decson for a modern and economcal heatng system. Contnuous qualty control and enhancements, as well as functon tests n the factory, guarantee a techncally flawless devce. Please carefully read these documents. They contan mportant nformaton for the safe and thrfty operaton of the system. Safety nstructons Installaton and servce work can - due to the hgh system pressures, hgh temperatures and lve electrcal parts - be assocated wth hazards and may only be performed by specalsts. Heat pumps may only be nstalled by capable specalsts and only put nto operaton by specalsts who have been specally traned by Hoval for ths purpose. Power supply to the system should be swtched off when work s beng performed on the heat pumps and safeguarded aganst nadvertent reswtchng. Moreover, all safety nstructons n the respectve documents, as well as on adhesve labels on the heat pumps themselves and n other applcable safety regulatons, must be observed. Heatng system Control water level Control the water level of the heatng system regurarly followng the nstructons descrbed on page 41. Sound Emssons The Hoval Belara heat pump runs exceptonally smooth, thanks to ts engneerng desgn. Nevertheless, t s mportant that the heatng room s located as far away from nose-senstve lvng areas and closed off wth a tghtly sealng door. Dryng out of buldngs or respectvely the heatng of screed The heat pump s not desgned for the ncreased heat requrement necessary for dryng out buldngs or respectvely the heatng of screed. For safety reasons the compressor s swtched off wth return temperatures below +18 C. The dryng out of buldngs must be accomplshed by other on-ste devces as needed. Servce and Mantenance Regularly scheduled mantenance and the examnaton and care of all mportant system parts ensures safe and thrfty system operaton n the long run. We therefore recommend concludng a servce and mantenance contract wth Hoval Customer Servce for ths purpose. Cleanng If necessary, the Belara heat pump can be cleaned wth a damp cloth. The usage of cleanng agents s not recommended. The condensate dscharge must be checked perodcally for blockng and the evaporator for solng. Installaton of Addtonal Components The nstallaton of addtonal components whch have not been tested as a part of the system can cause functonal mparment. Hoval wll assume no warranty or lablty coverage for any resultant damages. Installaton locaton Suffcent ar supply must be provded (accordng to EN 378 part 1-4) No heavy dust accumulaton No permanently ncreased humdty (below 50% r.h. at a room temperature of 18 C Frost protecton Outsde Installaton The nstallaton place must be carefully selected. The followng boundary condtons must be kept: The nstallaton place should be selected n such a way that ar ntake and outlet s not hampered or obstructed by snow, leaves etc. There should be provded suffcent space for ntake and outlet as well as for operaton and mantenance. Ar short-crcut must be avoded. The space necessary for ntake and outlet must be always provded. The mnmum dstances apply only to the ndcated example. Under unfavourable condtons (e.g. ar short-crcut because of wnd nfluence) the heat pump should be provded wth a blateral blow. Intake ar must be completely free from aggressve substances lke ammona, sulphur, chlorne etc. The nstallaton place should not be stuated under the lvng room or bedroom because of sound emsson and be placed at suffcent dstance from the neghbourng buldng. (elaborate calculaton) Is not recommended to nstall the heat pump nto wall nches (ar short-crcut, sound echo). 3

4 General nformaton Heatng connectons and ppelnes The ppelnes for outdoors (flow and return) should be selected as short as possble. The ppelnes and the condensor should be professonally nstalled wth thermal nsulaton and antfreeze agent (e.g. self-doped electrc trace heatng). Deaeraton and emptyng of the heat pump must be ensured. Condensate ppelne Condensate must be able to run off freely (frost pretected dran). 1.1 Standards The equpment comples wth the EU Drectves: Applcable EC Drectves: EC Machnery Drectve (89/392/EEC) EC Low Voltage Drectve (73/23/EEC) EC EMC Drectve (89/366/EEC) EC Pressure Equpment Drectve (97/23/EC MODUL A) Applcable harmonsed EN: EN 378 EN EN 292/T1/T2 EN 294 EN 349 EN /2-40 EN EN / 01 Applcable natonal standards/drectves: ÖNORM M (Austra) DIN 8901 (Germany) 1.2 Key to symbols used Instructon: Result: Prompts you to carry out an acton. 6 Heatng system control / Heatng system control 3.1 What s the functon of the heat generator controller TopTronc T The heat generator controller s, n conjuncton wth the temperature sensor connected to t, so to speak, the bran of the heatng system. Its man functons are: - mantanng the desred room temperature ndependently of the outdoor temperature - heatng or coolng the lvng space when requred - produce warm water (e.g. for showerng) only when requred - dsplayng nformaton further functons: - Input of desred temperatures and operatng modes - Turn the burner ON/OFF - Temperature montor The correct settngs for the heatng system have already been appled by Hoval, or the nstaller, durng commssonng. Any changes to those settngs should only be carred out f you go away on a trp or f your home s to cold or too warm. An overvew of the most frequent questons/answers can be found on pages 8, 15 and 16 of these nstructons. ENERGY 3.2 How you can save energy For your beneft and for the envronment Usng energy more effcently by avodng unnecessary losses: Wth lttle effort you can optmse the operaton of your system and make t worth t. In autumn, t s worth whle turnng the heatng off agan on warm days Ths prevents the heatng system from producng unnecessary heat n the mornng, due to low outdoor temperatures, and overheatng the house. Turnng the heatng on or off dependng on the weather condtons s one of the most effectve energy savng measures. If you want to save yourself gong down the basement, you may want to consder acqurng a "remote control" from Hoval, whch wll allow you to operate and control the heatng comfortably from your lvng room. 3.3 Basc dsplay The basc dsplay shows the day of the week, date and tme of the day, as well as the current temperature of the heat generator or any other temperature (dependng upon nstallaton). 6
