9 Our Speakers Katherine Duthie is the Clinical Ethicist for the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the North Zone in Alberta Health Services. She is also a consultant on ethical issues in health technology assessment (HTA), and works regularly with HTA organizations in Canada. Prior to joining AHS in 2015, Katherine was the Leader in Clinical Ethics with the Fraser Health Authority in BC. She completed her doctorate in Public Health with a focus on the intersection between clinical and organizational ethics in In addition, she has a background in philosophy, policy, and biology.

10 Our Speakers Brenda Slobozian is a Quality Practice Leader with Bethany Care Society, specializing in palliative and end of life care. Over almost three decades, she has been involved in the delivery of palliative care, spanning acute care, long-term care, and community settings. Brenda served on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Hospice and Palliative Care Association for several years. She is a Registered Nurse and holds a Masters of Nursing degree from the University of Manitoba, where her studies were focused on population health and palliative care. Brenda's current area of focus is related to strengthening a palliative approach within longterm care.

11 Our Speakers Sandra Cook Wright has been a staff nurse for many years with a wide variety of experience (medicine, surgery, vascular, and palliative). She has also been a manager of a surgical unit, a hospice, and the IPCU at Foothills Hospital. Sandra considers herself a "late bloomer" and went to school to obtain her BN and Master's in Health Studies through Athabasca University. She also has her hospice/palliative certification through CNA. End of life care has always been Sandra's passion, even before the word "palliative" came into existence. Her present role is a pain/palliative consultant for 3 sites within Carewest, and a hospice educator and general educator for end of life/pain/palliative concerns with Carewest.

12 Our Speakers Dr. Douglas Faulder is currently Medical Director for Continuing Care in the Edmonton Zone for Alberta Health Services.
