Current post: I have been in my current post of Consultant Donor Medicine since November 18 th I lead the Clinical Support team at Manchester comprising of 2 SAS doctors and 3 Senior Nurse Practitioners where I am responsible for the the clinical care of blood donors ensuring their safety thorugh robust clincial governance processes. We work closely with operational colleagues and also as part of the National team. I am also involved in organising and delivering haematology and transfusion training locally and also work with the regional transfusion committee. Indian Journal of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Leadership and management experience and Service improvement projects involved: I have been a Medical Leadership Fellow (2011 cohort) from the NW Deanery and have completed my Masters in Leadership and Service improvement from the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. I have been involved in several local, regional and national service improvement projects as outlined below. Throughout my career, I have taken the initiative to work with teams and look into improving patient care and staff confidence and morale. SN 4/6

5 Teaching/Education: I have been actively involved in organizing several sessions and teaching medical students, nurses, other health professionals and running sessions at the haematology day for medical students (organized by the BSH). I teach in the transfusion courses hosted by NHSBT as well. I have been also involved in teaching GPs via separate sessions I have also been in charge of organising teaching for the haematology registrars in the region. I have been involved in developing a novel 'team based learning' in teaching haematology to Foundation Year doctors. I have part of the Education subgroup of the National Blood Transfusion committee- as part of this we had surveyed the current state of transfusion education in all UK Medical schools and Foundation schools and are in the process of developing improved and innovative methods of transfusion training at all levels- undergraduate and postgraduate. I have also participated and held interactive sessions with patients and families on Patient support group days Research experience: I have had valuable experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, the underpinning good clinical practice principles and regulations involved. I have had experience in drawing up a research proposal, devising all necessary documents including information sheets, consent forms. I have also been actively involved in obtaining the Ethics and research committee approval, consenting patients and families, collecting and analysing data and presenting them at national and international conferences. Examples of research projects that I have been involved in include: SN 5/6

6 A qualitative study looking into factors influencing junior doctors' actions in instances of poor patient care and raising concerns- this was part of my Masters dissertation towards MSc in Leadership and Service improvement at the Manchester Business School- this has been presented at the International Forum in Quality and safety in healthcare held at Paris in April A matrix for improving patient safety was developed as a result of this project. As a Transplant Research Fellow whilst working at Manchester Royal Infirmary, I have been involved in a research project titled- Immune reconstitution post haemopoietic stem cell transplant - this involved consenting, recruiting patients both undergoing transplant and those long term post transplant. I collected and processed samples using flow cytometry initially under supervision and later independently. Research titled - Factor VIII inhibitors in children with Hemophilia A during MD Pediatrics. Forty children with varying degrees of severity of hemophilia A were sampled for the presence of inhibitors to factor VIII that would affect their treatment and response to treatment. In addition, I have been involved and assisted in recruitment & assessment of patients in my various posts in several national multicentre trials like AML 15/16/17, SPIRIT, Myeloma XI, etc. SN 6/6
