3 3 rd AOCMF International Symposium on Orthognathic Surgery 3 Welcome Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to announce our 3 rd International Symposium on Orthognathic Surgery under AO patronage, held in Vienna, May 17 19, As our last symposium, held in May 2010, was a big success with a lot of positive echo around the globe, we were encouraged to organize another similar scientific meeting. This meeting will be dedicated to Prof. Ewers and his work at the University of Vienna, as he will retire in fall Our aim again was to gather a group of experts and interested surgeons in the field of orthognathic surgery and to exchange experiences in an enthusiastic discussion. We have again chosen a pleasant en vironment, the Billroth House, where discussions between famous doctors of the Viennese School of Medicine were tradition, centuries ago. Luckily, we can offer a list of well known speakers in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of our century, again. The scope of oral presentations is wide, still, this time we will focuse on complication management and soft tissue predictions. We hope that no questions will be left open. Content 2 Mission 2 The AO Principles of fracture management 3 Welcome 4 Goal of the symposium 4 Symposium objectives 4 Description of symposium 4 Target audience 5 Chairpersons 5 Faculty 6 Thursday, May 17, Friday, May 18, Saturday, May 19, Organization 9 Logistics 9 Registration 10 Information 11 Symposium venue 11 Hotel information As a special highlight we are planning to present a live surgery, a chin wing surgery performed by Albino Triaca from Zurich. You will be able to observe the surgery on a screen and there will be a live conference discussion. At the end of the symposium we will have a panel where we will design treatment plans in high sophisticated cases, taking the opinions of different experts in consideration. Besides the intense scientific exchange of thoughts you will be able to enjoy the Viennese way of life at a Heurigen Evening together or if you want, experience one of the beautiful concerts, theatres or the opera in Vienna. And this year there will be a special highlight in Vienna, the famous Life-ball with a huge open air spectacle in front of the city hall. Just combine work with fun on this prolonged weekend, and Vienna is the place! We are waiting for you! Gabriele Millesi MD, DMD
