Implement updated strategies for managing acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and actinic keratosis. Explain the roles of currently available biologic agents in the treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and appropriately incorporate newer biologics into therapeutic practice as these become available. Describe the mechanisms of action, efficacy, and safety of the biologic agents used to treat psoriasis, as well as the factors involved in appropriate patient selection. Assess patients for comorbidities and manage psoriasis as well as associated comorbidities. Integrate into daily practice new clinical developments and up-to-date guidelines for the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other immune-mediated inflammatory rheumatologic diseases. Analyze treatment approaches for the pediatric patient with common as well as complex skin diseases. Incorporate the recent research advances in understanding and treating pediatric dermatology issues such as atopic dermatitis and pediatric acne. Discuss new approaches to therapy including pathway targeted therapy in the treatment of melanoma. Assess the role of diagnostic tools and technology in diagnosis and detection of skin cancers. Recognize the factors that are important in selecting appropriate filler agents for treating different areas of the face and targeted planar depths. Compare and contrast the efficacy and safety of agents, devices, and techniques currently available in aesthetic and procedural dermatology. Determine the appropriate nonsurgical techniques for facial rejuvenation based on an enhanced understanding of facial anatomy. Examine energy-based technology for body contouring and discuss appropriate patient selection criteria for utilizing these devices. Evaluate the role of dermoscopy in clinical practice and demonstrate enhanced skill in using this technique to diagnose dermatologic disorders. Analyze emerging treatments for onychomycosis. About the SDEF MOC Program: The self-assessment questions will cover primarily general medical dermatology, but will also include pediatric dermatology and aesthetic and procedural dermatology. ARS questions throughout the program ask audience members clinically relevant knowledge or practice-related questions, individuals answer using an ARS transponder, and the resulting spread of answers by the entire audience is provided for all participants to see.
