The course will focus on managing medical issues arising with HIV and general medicine topics in diagnosed patients for the HIV doctor. The course is open to a limited number of delegates and contains eight interactive workshops. We are pleased to welcome you to the NCVO in central London, which has all the necessary facilities to comfortably accommodate this important educational course. 5 Biographies Anita Banerjee is a consultant obstetric physician, acute physician, and endocrinologist working at Guys and St Thomas s Hospital, London.. As an educationalist she teaches on all aspects of medical problems in pregnancy at local, national and international meetings. She leads the high-fidelity simulation training for the deteriorating pregnant patient at St Thomas s Hospital. She has been involved in writing the curriculum for the special skills module in obstetric medicine for acute medicine and the e-learning module for medical problems in pregnancy. She is a member of the OAA sub-group committee for the deteriorating pregnant patient, leads on the obstetric acute kidney injury pathway in London and is a member of several committees including; UKOSS steering committee and SCLN London morbidity and mortality committee. Alexander Brand has been a Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital since He is a general rheumatologist and has been an acute and general physician, since qualifying from St Thomas s Hospital in He has developed a special interest and expertise in HIV rheumatology due to the close proximity to The St Stephens Centre and links with 56 Dean St and the West London Centre for Sexual Health (now 10 Hammersmith Broadway) and is familiar with the continually evolving nature of HIV disease, its treatment and associated musculoskeletal pathology. Daniela Brawley is Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV in NHS Grampian and HIV Clinical Lead for NHS Grampian Sexual Health and Bloodborne Virus MCN. Specialist interests include outreach service provision, offender sexual health and sexual violence. Daniela is current chair of BASHH Scotland. Dominic Cavlan is a Consultant Physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine at St Bartholomew s and the Royal London Hospital. Research interests include adrenal gland development and the pathophysiology of adrenal tumours. John Evans-Jones is a Consultant in Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) based in Chester, who does clinical work for both East Cheshire NHS Trust and the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He completed undergraduate medical training at the University of Sheffield and postgraduate specialist training in GUM in both London and Liverpool. He has also worked for Health Education England since 2014 as Clinical Lead for ehiv-sti, the main electronic learning resource for the specialty. He co-chairs the Mersey, Cheshire and North Wales HIV Managed Care Network and is local Principle Investigator, for a number of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), portfolio studies. Yvonne Gilleece is a Consultant in HIV Medicine at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. She has a special interest in HIV and Hepatitis Coinfection & Liver Dysfunction. She also specialises in HIV & Women and is Chair of SWIFT, promoting research in women living with HIV and is Chair of the BHIVA Pregnancy Guidelines. Emma Hayton is a consultant in Infectious Diseases and Acute Internal Medicine at Heartlands hospital, Birmingham. She trained in Oxford and Paris, most recently at Saint-Louis hospital as a clinical trials physician. Her current post, includes regular medical takes and inpatient and outpatient Infectious Diseases. Rachael Jones is a Consultant in HIV and Sexual Health at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. Her major interests are the medical complications of HIV, and she runs a combined HIV/renal service with a consultant nephrologist. She has been involved in writing local and national guidelines on HIV and sexual health. Edward Kingdon is a Consultant Nephrologist, at the Sussex Kidney Unit in Brighton with sub-speciality interests in HIV, renal transplantation and paediatric-to-adult transition. I have attended a regular joint clinic in the Lawson Unit with Dr Debbie Williams since I was a member of the founding cohort of the Health Foundation Q initiative and I am KSS AHSN lead for a regional QI work stream focussing on Deteriorating Patients. Ranjababu Kulasegaram (Babu) is a Consultant in HIV/GU medicine at Guy s and St Thomas Hospital and leads the HIV Treatment Advice Clinic, with special interests in HIV/hepatitis, haemophilia/hiv infection, HIV/neurocognitive function and HIV inpatient management. Babu is committed to enhancing BHIVA s educational activities through his involvement as a course director for the BHIVA General Medicine Course and his contributions as one of the leads for the Diploma in HIV Medicine Revision Course. 5

6 Biographies Mark Nelson is a Consultant Physician at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. He trained at Jesus College, Cambridge and Westminster Hospital Medical School from where he qualified in He was appointed Consultant Physician at this hospital in 1991 and is the Professor of HIV Medicine at Imperial College Medical School where he is also the Senior Tutor. He has built a large HIV practice with a special interest in HIV inpatient care, co-infection with hepatitis B and C and the clinical utility of new antiretroviral agents. He is the Vice Chair of IAPAC, which represents over 25,000 providers of HIV care globally and is the London representative for fast-track cities to achieve 90:90;90. He has published over 600 peer reviewed papers on HIV and hepatitis. Nadeem Qazi is a Consultant Radiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London. His areas of expertise are Musculoskeletal & Interventional Radiology. He is Head of Specialty and Lead Radiologist at Imperial College. Before pursuing a career in Radiology he was a Research Fellow in HIV at The St Stephen s Centre at Chelsea & Westminster. Michael Rayment is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. Owen Seddon is a final year Registrar in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. His interests are in barriers to HIV testing, reducing missed or late diagnoses and HIV associated neurological infections. Alan Steel is a consultant gastroenterologist at the Royal Liverpool hospital. Dr Steel trained at University College London, with specialist training in North West London. A research degree was undertaken with Professor Brian Gazzard exploring immune activation in HIV. Dr Steel was appointed as consultant gastroenterologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2009 before moving to the current post in Liverpool this year. Alastair Teague is an HIV consultant at The Mortimer Market Centre, London, where he leads the adolescent HIV service, PEP and HIV testing at UCH. He trained at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and gained significant experience in clinical trials there and during a locum consultant post at St Thomas Hospital, where he led the HIV research department for 2 years. His interests include MDT teaching and using IT, to streamline HIV care and results management. Alex Thomson is a consultant liaison psychiatrist and medical lead for the alcohol care team at Northwick Park Hospital. He is also clinical lead for the psychological medicine clinical network at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, which supports quality improvement and implementation of service improvements across six acute hospitals. Oliver Warren is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College London. He qualified from Imperial College London in 2001 and gained his Doctorate in 2009 at the same institution. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012, for which he won the ASGBI Gold Medal for outstanding performance. Prior to becoming a consultant, he undertook colorectal surgery fellowships at St. Mark s Hospital, London, the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and was the 2013 Association of Coloproctology s visiting fellow at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA. In 2015 Oliver published his first book entitled Going into Hospital? A guide for patients, carers and families which seeks to engage patients in their care throughout the entire pathway and help patients improve their quality of care directly. He has authored over 70 scientific papers and book chapters on coloproctology, medical leadership, patient safety and surgical education. Laura Waters is a GU/HIV Consultant at the Mortimer Market Centre, London, working predominantly with HIV and hepatitis outpatients; she is HIV and Hepatitis Lead. She is principle investigator for several HIV drug trials and has an MD on antiretroviral simplification and switch. She has published and presented widely on topics including drug toxicity, ageing and guidelines. She is on the BHIVA executive committee, Chair of the BHIVA Treatment Guidelines Writing Group and Chair of the BHIVA Conferences subcommittee. She represents BASHH on the HIV CRG and co-chairs the CRG drigs subgroup. Laura is a THT trustee, chair of HalveIt and writes a regular column for Boyz magazine. 6 John Watson is an HIV and sexual health consultant in Birmingham. My main areas of interest are HIV inpatient care, and I jointly conduct HIV renal and haematology clinics. My main interest outside work is football and I play in the British Medical football team; ; we are always looking for new players.
