August 2017 The Haverhill Clubhouse August 2017 Farewell to Marc Birthdays Walter S. 8/13 Toni W. 8/16 Cathy H. 8/24 James P. 8/26 Pam H. 8/27 Patrick C. 8/30 Matt C. 8/30 I have had the pleasure to work with Marc St Louis for approximately five years, and during those five years I got to learn so much from him. We started developing a part time Transitional employment opportunity at CVS in Newburyport; from there, Marc graduated and moved up to supported employment. While working for one CVS Marc continued to do more hours at other local stores and also Subway. Marc decided to move forward and started working for CVS in Plaistow, NH as a part time supported employee, but again, Marc wanted more. This is when Marc moved up to work full time employment and got off benefits. Marc is an exemplary member of our community, he took the role of doing fund raising at the program whenever we needed him. Marc also volunteered at Common Ground Café to help the local community. Marc not only will be missed from the clubhouse community but from the Haverhill community as well. Marc thank you for teaching me so much. We wish you well and you will be missed. -Basilio V.
Page 2 August 2017 Farewell to Faith Faith s good-bye celebration. She is moving down south to be closer to family. Thanks for all your kindness and support at the Clubhouse! Toni worked with Terri to bake Faith s good-bye cake. Faith was a very great person and friend to the clubhouse community. I will miss her kindness, her wisdom, her sense of humor and her great advice. It is hard not seeing her at the clubhouse anymore. I miss her hugs and I miss her making me laugh. By. Toni W.
Page 3 August 2017 Surprise Ice Cream Social! Mark S., Michelle L. and Melissa F. At the end of June Kerry was kind enough to buy ice cream for a surprise ice cream social! With flavors from heavenly hash to strawberry and toppings ranging from pineapple to hot fudge, everyone was screaming for ice cream! Kara V. and Diane O.
Page 4 August 2017 Education Updates My name is Barbara S. and I have been coming to the clubhouse for a few years now. When I came in, I was broken not knowing where to turn. The clubhouse took me under their wing. I did crafts when I came in, a lot of coloring which I still do today to help relax myself. I started back to school at Southern New Hampshire University online. I have 4 classes done and I saw a new volunteer program at the Senior Center in Salisbury. They need volunteers to start a program for the shut-in elderly for visits and making phone calls to make the elderly feel like someone cares. I will start next week after the paperwork goes through. This program falls right where my field of study is in Human Services. The Haverhill Clubhouse gets a lot of credit by supporting me and letting me know I am someone important and I can make something with my life. I want to become a Case Manager for Elder Services to work with the elderly in the Salisbury area. I just want to say when you re feeling down come to the clubhouse there is always someone to talk to and help you change your day to a good one. - Barbara S.
Page 5 August 2017 Education Updates The Clubhouse would like to congratulate Liza B. on officially being enrolled as a full-time student at Northern Essex Community College. She begins classes this fall and will study Accounting. BELIEVE TO ACHIEVE! Maureen M. and Mary B. have been unfailingly dedicated students in Nicolle s computer classes. As a result, they will be graduating soon with certificates in Computer Basics. Well done girls!

Walter has been a great asset to the clubhouse and we are so proud of him for getting this job. Congrats Walter!! Michelle has been working at Home Depot since the beginning of June. Each day Michelle is dropped off to work with a smile and is smiling when she is picked up. Her consistency and work ethic have been recognized by numerous staff at Home Depot as well as from club members and staff.
Page 7 August 2017 Employment Updates The Clubhouse would also like to congratulate Courtney M. on receiving her CNA certification and now works at Methuen Village. This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it...the joy of the Lord is my strength, every morning is a step forward closer to the journey, for the path we choose. We approach out of making our own little world which leads us to another dimension of Divine Intervention. Every day leads another way we are loved and guided by a mystery day and way. People are our intervention unknown for no man or woman is an island. - Russell G. Member Writings

Page 11 August 2017 Activity Updates Nicolle brought Liza B. and Michelle L. on a wellness walk at Harold Parker Park in Andover. After their walk they got ice cream at Mad Maggie s.
Page 12 August 2017 Activity Update Cont. I really do appreciate the activities that the Haverhill Clubhouse has to offer and not just that they also help with Social Security benefits and food stamps. I also appreciate the camping trip too. The clubhouse is understanding of my disabilities and my pica. I made so many friends. - Michelle L. Hi my name is Toni and I wanted to take the time to talk about a beautiful friendship that I made here. I met Courtney a year ago when I gave her a tour of the clubhouse. We hit it off very well and have been friends ever since. I think it is great to have such great friends like Courtney in the community. I don t have many friends outside the Clubhouse community. This is one of the reason why coming here is a dream come true for me. Courtney is someone I can turn to in time I need someone to talk to and I know she will always be there for me and vice versa. I m glad the Clubhouse introduced me and Courtney.
Page 13 August 2017 Haverhill Clubhouse works with me to reach my goals. The Haverhill Clubhouse makes sure I keep moving forward towards positive vibe. Haverhill Clubhouse helps me in recovery. The Clubhouse supports me in different ways. When I feel so positive with myself I start singing my music and dancing with it too. I start showing more positive respect to others and my teams support. I write this because I want to appreciate my teams support, and friends and family for making sure I moving forward with myself and reach my goals, what I want in my life. Saroun C. Saroun s talent with sketching assisted the Clubhouse with drawing out the top floors of our building. An Architect in the making! Full of talent!
