1 Shady Oaks Bulletin November May Parents Association for People with Disabilities Shady Oaks Camp Newsletter Upcoming Events Business of the Month Since incorporation in April 2005, Sonoma Underground has grown to cover all aspects of utility / infrastructure construction. Sonoma maintains a focus on our client s needs and interest, giving the highest quality product with the most cost effective solution by utilizing years of knowledge, proven techniques, state of the art equipment as well as implementing cutting edge technologies. Sonoma s management team has an aggressive, yet safe approach, willing to try new products and procedures while utilizing the knowledge and experience of proven methods giving our Clients the most cost effective options. Sonoma s in-house Quality Control Program assures that the work is performed 100% to our Client s expectations and specifications. Sonoma Underground Services has been a big supporter of Shady Oaks Camp. Earlier this year their employees made a generous donation to SOC and most recently Sonoma installed new lights in our parking lot as well as completed several other projects around the SOC grounds including excavation and yard work. Acorns Camp Dates Session I: July 9 th - 13 th Session II: July 16 th -20 th Session III: July 23 rd -27 th To learn more or sign up call (708) or visit our website Shady Oaks Camp & Shady Oaks Acorn Day Camp will share the same 25 acres but will each have their own schedules, programs & staff. Thus, a camp within a camp! Shady Oaks Acorns will provide hands on fun, allow your child to grow socially & creatively and will also encourage your child to explore the environment around them. Your child will participate in activities from arts & crafts, swimming, hiking, sports and many more. The fee includes drinks but you must provide a snack from home. Day Camp: Mon. June 18 th Fri. June 22 nd Session I: Mon. June 25 th - Fri. July 6 th Session II: Mon. July 9 th Fri. July 20 th Session III: Mon. July 23 rd - Fri. Aug. 3 rd Session IV: Mon. Aug 6 th Fri., Aug. 17 th Just a reminder that all sessions are filled on a first come first serve basis. 4 Volunteer Saturday, May 19, 2018 SOC s Spring Clean Up Please join us from 9am -3pm We will need help with Cleaning Yardwork General maintenance Lunch & drinks will be provided Parker Rd., Homer Glen, IL We are looking for volunteers to help us run the events, set up and breakdown the SOC Carnival on Saturday, June 2 nd. The carnival will take place at Shady Oaks Camp Parker Rd., Homer Glen, IL If you are interested please contact Marcie Flores at marcie.flores55@gmail.com We are looking for volunteers to help us run the SOC Booth at the Abilities Expo at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Cntr on Friday, June 29 th Saturday, June 30 th Sunday, July 1 st You can volunteer for one or more shifts or days. 6 Thank You Thank you to everyone who came out to the Christ Community Church Cleanup Day at camp on Saturday April 21 st. Thanks to all your hard work, our spring cleanup is well underway! Also another big thank you to Sonoma Underground Services who came out to camp on April 28th to install new lights in our parking lot and to do some other much needed excavation and yard work and inside cleaning! We want to thank Laurie Harff, Ladies Auxiliary to Berwyn Eagles Aerie NO. 2125, Kiwanis Club of Orland Park, Danielle Duss Short & Brian Short, Knights of Columbus Council #16369, Lockport Women's Club, Christine Luttrell and PACPRH for all of their generous donations. Our 10th annual dinner dance was held on April 20 th and we sailed the seven seas! We would like to thank all of our sponsors and donors (listed below), as well as everyone who attended the event. Because of all of you, this year s dance was record setting with over 350 attendees and over 35k in profits raised! A special thank you to our dance committee, Sheila Newcomb, Mary Pisano, Pam Franckowiak, Kelly Cain and Sallie Hoekstra for all their hard work. Finally, thank you to Momentum Dance Studio and Funn Songs Productions, for providing the entertainment for the evening.
