1 Rotary Club of Morialta Inc. District 9520 P.O. Box 121 ATHELSTONE SA 5076 Secretary Tim Mee PRESIDENT S NEWS THE COG RCM Meeting 1735 Bulletin 17 January 2019 Presidents blog for Cog 16/01/2019 Happy New Year everyone I trust you had a restful and relaxing Christmas and New Year period. Some members have been on the roster for Kiosk duties and also the Scout Jamboree has drawn a group to Tailem Bend for Scout catering activities. All these activities will bring in valuable funds for the Club. Thank you to all involved over the break. As we meet this week for our Return To Rotary Meeting at Thorndon Park. We have three potential new members attending plus Jill Whittaker the new Mayor of Campbelltown also attending. So to make it easier for the three guests and their partners please wear your name tag and go out of your way to welcome them. Also attending will be our District Governor Kim Harvey. There is plenty of shade in the Park at 6.30 pm so conditions will be better than what you will get earlier in the day if out in the open (or riding a bike to Victor Harbor or other venue for TDU.) Ronz has had his 85 th Birthday in the break and we will all enjoy another birthday in 2019 (some have had early birthdays In January) We have a TDU BBQ on Friday so we can support Graeme by also helping out I know I will! We have a busy period in front of us in We will be sending the first teams of qualified Midwifes to Port Moresby for training together with Rotarian Judi Brown and all reports are that this important programme has attracted a very capable group of mentors. Good Luck to all involved the framework is good and success should flow. The District Conference this year will be in Broken Hill and this town will offer a different experience to attendees. We can support DG Kim Harvey by attending her Conference in the town where her dad was a Rotarian and she was introduced to the good work of Rotary. On 30 March we plan to assemble 400 birthing kits for distribution where needed in areas where access to qualified birthing personnel is not available. These basic kits do provide a valuable option for women in these mostly third world countries and is again Morialta acting globally to improve maternal outcomes. Page 1
