2 President s Corner Hey North County Corve e Members Had fun leading a group from North County Fair to Sam and Donna s in Ramona. It s always great to see all of the Corve es in a line (especially when it s through the rearview mirror). Once we got close, following my naviga on system, we le Tim Murray wondering when I was really going to turn le. This me? No. Maybe this me? No. Okay now he s really turning. We did arrive together, not losing anyone along the way. On arrival, I realized our Corve e, Tangi, liked the heat less than we did and proceeded to express her displeasure by deposi ng fluid all over the driveway. We all enjoyed great barbequed Tri p and salmon from Grillmaster, Sam, and lots of sides from hostess, Donna at the Rindskopf resort. Thank you, Dwight and Karen Alexander, for following us out as, on the way home, Tangi balked at the temperature again but we made it home without having to call AAA. The end result was a leaking radiator which has been replaced so Tangi is rearing to go on her next adventure. I look forward to seeing all of you at the next mee ng. Thank you for all of your help and support. Rick T. CONGRATULATIONS! Rob and Sandy Roth became grandparents to Lillian Kathleen Carpenter on August 25th! We know from experience grandkids are a lot of fun. Enjoy them! Rick & Renee 2

5 PAST PRESIDENT S PICNIC AUGUST 16, 2015 Photos by Dwight Alexander 5
6 Photo submi ed by Sam Rindskopf Past President s Picnic As luck would have it, the weather forecast for the Picnic was to be the ho est day of the year. I guess it could have been worse, we could have had rain like we did a few weeks before when Ramona received 4 inches within a couple of hours. So, as if the drama of having 50 plus people at our home wasn t enough, we woke up Friday morning to find our pool almost completely drained! I freaked out and quickly woke up Donna. We ran outside and found that one of our solar heater panels had failed. Since they are located down the hill from the pool, it siphoned almost all of the water out. A er shu ng off the valves to the solar panels, we put 2 hoses in the pool and began refilling it. The challenge was to get it refilled by Sunday for the picnic. We ran water day and night into mid morning on Sunday to meet the challenge. The day was hot but there was a breeze and we put up several popups to add more shade. We had lots of snacks, soda, water, beer and wine for people to enjoy un l the main course was ready. At last year s picnic, only one person went into the pool. This year, as you will see by the pictures, we had quite a few people taking advantage of the pool. The temperature was in the high 90 s and I m sure the water felt really good. As for me, I was busy grilling tri p and salmon, enjoying the company of my fellow Club members. Donna was busy ge ng all of the fixings, salads, and tableware ready. I believe if you ask anyone they will say the food was good and the company great! This is the 5th and last Past President s Picnic for us at our home and I m a li le sad to think about that but I m confident Rick and Renee will host a great one at their place next year. I really want to thank everyone who a ended and made this a great event. I want to thank my daughter, Tonya, and her boyfriend, Rob, for helping out a bunch se ng up and cleaning up a er. Lastly, I want to thank my wonderful wife, Donna, who always works so hard to make everything perfect for these events. Sam 6
