We will be collecting food for the needy. We will again provide a Turkey Dinner on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, free for our members where they can come to the lodge and be with friends, relax and have a good time. We will soon be decorating the lodge for the holidays; it always looks nice and festive. I hope to see more members coming to meetings, dinners and events. We have a quarterly town hall meeting for you to come in and ask questions, address your concerns and offer suggestions on what you think can be done. Thank you, for all you do. SR. REGENT S MESSAGE: By: Theresa Welle Hello everyone! Fall is here and so it is time to think about our canned food and clothing drive we do at this time of year. It is also time to start thinking about Christmas and those on your gift giving list. We did an ornament exchange last year, it was a big hit so ladies, please let s do it again. On the first meeting of the next 2 months (Nov & Dec) please bring an ornament to exchange. It can be funny or it can have a special meaning, bring it wrapped without a gift tag and let s have fun with them. A big thank you goes out to those who helped with our Christmas in October. It was a big success and those who live at Mooseheart/ Moosehaven will have a nice holiday with your help. Also coming up is Betty Ferguson's Annual Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale. This year we will be raffling off a cute snowman to one lucky person. Tickets are on sale in the social quarters, please ask for them. Thank you to all who help with the dinners and with the breakfasts every month. 2 ADMINISTRATORS MESSAGE: By: Gary Tugaeff Hello Brothers and Sisters! Well we are coming into fall, which means cooler weather, trees changing colors, and of course the holiday season will be here before we know it. We had a good month in October, the Christmas in October dinner was a great success. Thank you to Margaret and her crew for a wonderful event. We are looking forward to more fun things in the coming months. As always any and all suggestions are welcome. We need participation from our men and women. Please come to the lodge and sign up for a dinner or fund raiser. Thank you and we will see ya at the lodge. RECORDER S MESSAGE: By: Jean Hunter I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for a great Christmas in October" event again this year! Thanks to everyone who donated the Turkeys, vegetables, breads, & the pies. Thank you Margaret Valenzuela, for all the hard work you did in putting this together. The results were amazing, as always!!! This shows that when we work together, we can, and DO accomplish great things! Congratulations to Teri Winstead for winning the handmade Quilt! The next couple of months will be very busy for everyone, with the Holidays just around the corner. Please think about those less fortunate and the many ways we as Moose members help others. Please take some time to remember why we are MOOSE Members. The College of Regents Committee is having a bake-less bake sale during the month of November. Please watch the mail for your copy of the letter. At our first Chapter Meetings in November & December we will be having a Christmas Ornament exchange. It is always lots of fun to see the different ornaments and watch the joy on everyone's face during the exchange. Please try to come and join us. We are also collecting canned goods for our food drive to be given to the Elk Grove Food Bank again this year. There is a collection box in the Social Quarters to place your donations. Page 2 December 2nd is Betty Ferguson's annual Christmas Bazaar & Bake Sale. She has a Stuffed Snowman up for a raffle; it is on display in the Social Quarters. Tickets are 6 for $5.00 or 1 for $1.00. The raffle will be held at noon on December 2nd. We now have the 100th anniversary scarf from Mooseheart for Sale. Each scarf has pictures of the children from Mooseheart throughout it. We are selling them for $12 each. If interested in purchasing one, please contact me. If I am not at the Lodge you may call me at and place your order. Due to Christmas falling on one of our Chapter nights, our meetings in December will be moved to another night. The dates will be announced at the next meeting, in the next Bulletin and on the Website. Check your membership card Are your Dues ready to expire? if so please take care of it so you don t get taken off the membership rolls and can t enjoy the functions that are being planned. At this time I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

3 ILLNESS REPORT: Please report any member illness or distress to Chaplain Teri Winstead or to Prelate Robbie Robertson. We are sad to report that Tom Belemecich passed away on October 20, 2012 surrounded by Angels on earth: Jean Moore, Terry Norman and Jean Butler. Thank you ladies, and God Bless each of you. Tom was a great man, loved by all who knew him. Services will be held at the Lodge soon. Al Carter passed away recently. Services were held in October. Chapter member Evelyn Lumen passed away on October 22 nd. Donna Bolton will be released from Kaiser Hospital soon to begin recovery at Windsor Convalescent in Elk Grove. Bertha Holquin was injured in October and had to have staples in the back of her head. Frank (Bobbie) had triple bypass surgery and is now at McKinley Care Center doing his physical therapy to prepare to go home soon. Please keep these members and their families in your thoughts and prayers. SOUTH SAC WEBSITE: By: Kim Spire We have been working on getting our website updated with current and upcoming events. The address is on the front page of your bulletin. Please check it out and let me know of anything you would like to see on the website and we ll try to get it up there. We also welcome any articles you would like to submit! All Moose related pictures are welcome and can be easily uploaded to the site for all to enjoy. Just send them to me at Kim.Spire@comcast.net and I ll get them up for you! 2012 JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FUND (JDRF) WALK: On Sunday, October 7th, we had several members join in the walk to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. We even had children and grandchildren walking with us! This year, we were able to donate a total of $140.00! Nice job, everyone! Thank you to all of our supporters, and to the volunteers who actually made the walk: Kim Spire (with Daniel & Ruben), Theresa Welle (Carl & DeeDee), Tricia Jones (Leah), Christie Helmers, and Debbie Prinzo (Michael). Page 3 VETERAN JERRY MOREY RECEIVES FREE HOME REPAIRS AND UPGRADES The Home Depot Foundation s Celebration of Service campaign expanded to Sacramento this week and took on the task of repairing and making safer the home of (South Sac Moose members) Korean War veteran Jerry Morey and his wife of 47 years, Al. On Thursday, October 11th, a swarm of Team Depot volunteers installed a new roof, painted the exterior, installed railings and smoothed out the treacherous landscape in the yard among other repairs. The effort is part of the two-month campaign continuing to Veterans Day by the Foundation. The Morey s will celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary in December.
