Sponsors The live auction is annually sponsored by Walter-Brother Auctioneers, & Kris Gosche. The live Auction brought in over $8,000. Thanks to all of the individuals who opened their wallets for the fun event! This was the first year we featured a silent auction the night of the event. It was successful, raising over $600! Thank you to everyone who took part in the silent auction! Merchandise We focused more on getting individuals involved with the organization in a more personal way, sponsoring scholarships! Over $1,500 was raised the night of the event from individuals sponsoring students in the program. Food & Desserts. The 2013 Art Auction would not be possible without the sponsors of the night. Santa SPOTLIGHT Teri Winters BIG THANKS to Santa for visiting our homeschool class this holiday season! The kids LOVED singing Rudolph with you!. Book Fair Thank you to Mary Hawkins for donating so much and helping AMA raise money through the Usborne Book Fair! Thanks to all who purchased books during our book fair. We raised almost $300 in FREE BOOKS for the start of a new AMA library! Teri Winters has been an AMA student for a year and a half. Teri loves creating at all times. She is even creating art in her own home, what seems like, all the time! She loves bringing in her creations to show us, or even sell in the studio. Her expertise is in jewelry making and painting. She makes and sells rings, bracelets and earrings in the studio that benefit her art scholarship. Teri paints on a weekly basis where she frequently learns new techniques and thoroughly enjoys herself every time. Teri takes a lot of pride in her creations and would love nothing more than for you to check out her jewelry inside the studio! You can frequently find Teri taking walks downtown with her pizza box that holds her painting, if you see her- ask her to show you what s inside! Thank you so much Werk-Brau for allowing us to make your 1500 greeting cards! AMA Staff & Board Go Local Small Business Champion The 50 th Annual, Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards were held on October 10 th, at Winebrenner. Awakening Minds joined The Findlay- Hancock County Chamber of Commerce this past summer, and has been welcomed with open arms! AMA was nominated for the Go Local award sponsored by First National Bank, and the Community Sustainability award sponsored by The Kirk Family of Companies. AMA took home the Go Local small business award, we are incredibly honored to have this award! BIG THANKS to all of the AMA staff and board members who have been working SO HARD during our biggest expansion year! Thank you doesn t seem big enough! Kiwanis Club. Kiwanis Club donated leftover gift bags from Santa s House for AMA to use for a new incentive/reward box. Kiwanis Club of Findlay meets on Wednesdays, 12p at St. Marks D.O.C.S. and they want YOU to join them! THANKS KIWANIS CLUB! Studio Expansion We ve grown 1,000sq. ft.! We want to give a HUGE thank you to Trends on Main/ Trends TOO for partnering with us for the past ten months and giving us the chance to grow in such an ideal downtown storefront! Now, AMA holds the keys to the entire space and are now able to expand programming significantly! We have added two, one on one rooms as well as an athletic room. We will be able to provide more programming such as group classes (more regularly), yoga, dance, martial arts (coming back soon!), and exercise! We have fallen in love with the changes in the studio and hope you can visit soon! The expansion has allowed AMA to focus more on our Sensory Store which now occupies the entire front area.

There is NO REGISTRATION needed or previous attendance required. All classes are $10ea. January 6 th - March 28 th Mondays 4pm-6pm Open Studio- Craft Time Drop kiddos off anytime between 4p and 6p for a class focused on socializing, crafting & independence with creating. Tuesdays 6:30p-7:30p Sculpture Class Structured class focusing on socializing, technique and following directions. Create a new piece every week! Wednesdays 6:30-7:30 Painting Class Structured class focusing on socializing, technique and following directions. Create a new painting every week! 3 rd Thursdays 6:30-8:00 Paint & Partake- Wine Night A great night of fun meeting new friends and hanging out with old friends. Enjoy four wine tastings, appetizers and the creation of a beautiful masterpiece! RSVP is required to hold seat in class. Please register online or in our studio. Paint & Partake AMA has been providing a night of painting and partaking for over three years. If you haven t attended a party, you re truly missing out! Originally Paint & Partake parties consisted only of wine tasting and painting. Now, after much expansion, our private P&P parties are for children s birthday parties, work luncheons, team building exercises, bachelorette parties and so much more! Let us help you plan! Partaking doesn t mean you re drinking wine, there s much more to partake! We have hosted cupcake tasting (bridal parties), birthday cake, beer tasting and more! 5 Newsletter Winter VOL1.5 pg 5 What s New Yoga is here! Welcome Monica Copeland, Yoga Instructor Monica Copeland is a certified Series One yoga instructor. She is currently working on her 200hr to become a RYT through Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio. She is studying Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow yoga with additional certification for children and special needs children, as well. Monica has been studying yoga for 3 years. She has taken a workshop from Keeno McGregor, a top yogini from Miami, FL. Monica is currently teaching at Awakening Minds Art Studio. She is teaching a basic Power Yoga/Ashtanga yoga class. She also teaches basic yoga class for special needs. Starting this January, she will begin a light stretching class for all levels. Her hope is to introduce the health benefits of yoga to a wider audience. Contact Awakening Minds for class times and rates, or visit our website for information. Changes to AMA A larger focus on sensory Our larger studio space has allowed for AMA to focus more on the Sensory Store in the front of the business. We have made room for more tools to make our sensory seeking and avoiding students happy! Our sensory program is being taken care of for the next several months by a couple of Occupational Therapy students from The University of Findlay. We are so anxious to see what these bright students will bring to the Sensory Store & Station! More space means more hours!
