It s still happening. I don t have anything else to report. None. Vice Chair Absent None. Secretary Absent None. They said they would close the account properly before March 16 th and give me the balance in the account. Bill: Why is there a $4000 balance? Is that the money we should be donating to region? Nixsy: We need to make sure everything is stable before making a donation. Jen: I will talk to the previous treasurer to find out why we sit on this money RCM and RCMA Jasmyn: Region in is two weeks. I will bring back information to the next area Nixsy: Do you know if the website is working? Jasmyn: I can try to find out. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS Activities Adriana: I am on one person committee, I really need help. I m trying to find a location. Help desperately needed. Can you ask your groups if we can meet at your locations? Jackson: How can I help? Adriana: Come talk to me and we can exchange ideas. Nixsy: What about the meeting at conscious contact? Adriana: It happened, no one showed up. I d like to meet twice a month. I need help finding a new location.

3 EANA ASC Minutes Sunday March 13, 2016 Page 3 of 6 Guidelines project chair Open position. Nixsy asks Stef (former vice-chair) to bring a copy of the guidelines to the next area. She wants to discuss the guidelines at area. Daily Inventory Absent none Hospitals & Institutions -Don spoke at the Granby meeting, and he said it went well. Martin is looking for English male speakers once a month. If you would be interested but don't have a car, Don has offered to drive. For more info, you can contact Don or Martin. -Bordeaux is still interested in creating "Bridging he gap". If there are any males who who'd be will not to pick up released inmates to bring them to a meeting please contact me by h_and_i@mail.com -Open positions: Oka alternate (6 months) and fosters alternate (2years) - We are requesting $120 Questions / Comments / Discussion Angie: Can we spend some of our Area money on starter kits for natives to start meetings. They have expressed interest. Nixsy: They can contact us or come here to get them themselves. Stef: We are talking about people in remote areas and they might not have internet access. Nixsy: They can send letters to our PO box. There s a lot that can be done. Jackson: Can one of you be that contact person for them? Angie and Stef: Yes. Stef explains oka and fosters postions. Nixsy: When is your next meeting? Stef: The 1st Sunday of every month at 6:30 at Take it or Leave it. Jasmyn: Do we have the resources to send starter kits to fit their needs? Nixsy: We could, we would have to know what they need and we would have to go through our literature person. Jen: Can Angie find out what their needs are? Angie: Yes. Literature Report will be sent Stef: Did you bring medallions? Ariel: Yes Public Relations (absent) Jasmyn: I talked to Patrick and he is mostly alone. He told me they don t have any current projects happening. If you have an idea, please go see Patrick. Administrative Tasks: 15 minutes allotted to giving of donations, submitting motions, etc. The meeting was recalled at 10:55am. The group read the third Concept in the Twelve Concepts for NA Service. Quorum call: 10 members; quorum attained. ********* Elections Prior to elections, the Chair recites the Fourth Concept: Effective leadership is highly valued in Narcotics Anonymous. Leadership qualities should be carefully considered when selecting trusted servants. Old Business Seba was supposed to talk to PR about getting reimbursed for the webhosting cost.

4 EANA ASC Minutes Sunday March 13, 2016 Page 4 of 6 Nixsy: I think Seba has been waiting for a while for this money. If he can show us an invoice, we will pay him back. Seba: I can send an to PR, the secretary and the treasurer New Business Item 1 Motion brought forth by Bill and seconded by Audley to vote on adding this meeting to the EANA list. Nixsy: They don t have a GSR but they want to be a part of EANA and be included on the website. We will need to open up some dialogue about that. Adding it to EANA will affect EANA as a whole so it needs to be discussed at the Area table. Bill: This meeting has been happening or two weeks now. The attendance is good with newcomers showing up each meeting. Don is the acting secretary. Great convenient location. It s going well. Seba: What are the open positions? Bill: The first business meeting is the first Wednesday is in April. All positions are open. All positions should be filled by the next Area. Audley: Open or closed? Bill: Closed meeting. Seba: How did the newcomers know about the meeting? Bill: Possibly the help line or the posters we put up in the CLSC. Or word of mouth Jeff: What s the rent? Bill: There is no actual rent but they ask the meeting to make a donation every three months to the charity that the CLSC is currently working with. Nixsy: That is a tradition violation because NA funds cannot go towards supporting another organization. We need to be paying rent. Bill: Maybe I explained it wrong. We give money to the CLSC and they do what they want with it. Duncan: That s the same set up that Circle Thursday has been running for years. A CLSC is the best possible location to have a meeting because the rent is fluctuating and there is no danger of the meeting closing due to lack of funds. Nixsy: So long as were self-supporting. We need to respect the traditions. So long as that s clear. We cannot support other charities. Are people in accord with this? We all agree that this meeting will be included. Motion passed. Item 2 Seba proposes to remove the guidelines rule that a new meeting has to have a GSR at EANA before GSRs can announce the new meeting or post it on the website. Motion is seconded by Stef. Seba: The way I see it, in the time it takes to get the message out to newcomers, they might not get to the meeting when they need it. Nixsy: Any meeting can get started any time. It needs a representative to come to area if it wants to be a part of EANA. Seba: I understand both sides but I think we should discuss and vote. Stef : I think it shouldn t have to be an official GSR. I think it could be just anyone to come and represent the meeting. Nixsy (asks Seba to send her the specific part of the guidelines where he found this.) We are collectively the voice of EANA. Yes, I think it makes sense that we decide as a group. Maybe we can change the wording to representation instead of GSR. We need to make sure that this meeting will keep happening and that there are trusted servants who will continue to hold it open. Seba: If it s somebody who s been in EANA for a long time, they are trusted. Nixsy: I would love to say yes but that s not always a guarantee. I think we cannot judge based on clean time. Someone with a week clean can come in and be committed. Jeff: The Lighthouse meeting opened up sketchily however the meeting survived. Nixsy: We are all part of keeping meetings alive. Seba: When could a meeting be opened but not be a part of EANA? Nixsy: When they violate traditions. There are a lot of different aspects. Open positions treasurer, GSR, GSRA and alt secretary. Meeting needs support. If things don t pick up by the summer, it is in danger of closing. Nixsy: We need to encourage attendance of stronger members because there are newcomers there who need support. Groups could put up flyers. Jen: Would the flyers need to be approved at area first? Nixsy: Preferably but if it s straightforward and to the point then no. Approving flyers at the Area is the healthiest way to proceed. Clean and Serene in Verdun: Attendance 24, Newcomers 2. No lit order, no area donation. Conscious Contact: Attendance 20, no donation. No newcomers Open Positions: GSR (9 months). We are trying to agree on a group policy about sub-comittees having their meetings before our meeting. Should they be paying rent to us? Stef : I think it s the group s decision on whether they want to charge rent because all groups are autonomous. Victor: Ok I will bring it to the business meeting. Nixsy: I encourage groups to work together and support sub-committees who meet at their locations. Potluck on the last Friday of the month. Day by Day: Attendance 34. Newcomers 0. What I ve seen in groups is that people volunteer but they don t know the intention of the position. I m very good at what I m doing and I have all the help I need. Just throwing that out there. (Also, Audley was thinking: Jen is a Goddess.) Duncan: Welcome to the new meeting. I love the name. Jasmyn: This was the calmest are I ve ever seen. Nixsy: I want to keep encouraging people to take a look at the guidelines. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling with the admin committee. The next Admin meeting will be Sunday April 10, at the downtown YMCA at 9am prior to the Area meeting. The next Area meeting will be held on Sunday April 10, at 10:00 am at the YMCA downtown, Room 508. Please announce widely. The meeting closed at 12 pm with a circle and a prayer.
