2 The Ninety-Nines, Inc. International Organization of Women Pilots Who Are The Ninety-Nines? The Ninety-Nines, Inc., is an international organization of licensed women pilots from 44 countries we currently have thousands of members throughout the world. We are a non-profit, charitable membership corporation holding 501(c)(3) U.S. tax exempt status. Although there are other pilot organizations in various states and nations, virtually all women of achievement in aviation have been or are members of The Ninety-Nines. Our Headquarters is located on two acres at Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This is also the site of our 99s Museum of Women Pilots, which is home to our large archival records, video oral histories, personal artifacts, collections and memorabilia, and biographical files on thousands of women pilots from around the world. Our business hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday or by appointment. I m a 99! 3 The Ninety-Nines, Inc. International Organization of Women Pilots What Do The Ninety-Nines Do? Today, The Ninety-Nines are professional pilots for airlines, industry and government. We are pilots who teach and pilots who fly for pleasure. We are pilots who are astronauts, technicians, and mechanics. But first and foremost, we are women who love to fly! The core of our organization's activities is at the Chapter and Section level, consisting of over 150 chapters across the United States and Canada, as well as another 17 Sections located on five continents around the world. Each year, local Chapters sponsor several hundred educational programs, including aerospace workshops for teachers, airport tours for school children, fear-of-flying clinics for non-flyers, and flight safety seminars. For many years, 99s have co-sponsored a significant number of the FAA pilot safety programs in the United States. For over 60 years, members have worked as judges and volunteers with the National Intercollegiate Flying Association s student flying competitions, as well as providing funding assistance for these events. The 99s sponsors and offers many Aviation Day programs for the Girl Scouts of America and other youth groups. The plane doesn't know or care about your gender as a pilot, nor do the ground troops who need your support. You just have to perform. 4 Welcome to Dayton Every year, the Host Section chooses a city and, along with the International Board of Directors, invites the members of The Ninety Nines to our annual International Conference. In 2019, the North Central Section of The Ninety-Nines hosts our conference in Dayton, Ohio The Birthplace of Aviation. Conference attendees and guests will enjoy exploring the Aviation Trail and following aviation s advances from its earliest beginnings to today s modern unmanned aircraft systems (aka drones ). From the original 1905 Wright Flyer III, housed at Carillon Historical Park just a short walk from our conference hotel, to the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. From the Wright Cycle Company to Sinclair Community College s National UAS Training & Certification Center. To enrich and enhance the success of our 2019 Conference/Career Expo, we ask for your support. We are seeking sponsors for various events and activities during the week in Dayton. She is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and rose through the ranks to become a Lieutenant Colonel and Deputy Commander of the 33rd Fighter Wing Operations Group. In 2011, she and another woman flew an F-15E Strike Eagle as part of the Air Force s first all-female combat mission, including all-female maintenance and planning crews, and struck targets in Afghanistan. In 2015, she was also the first woman to fly the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Today, she is a Senior Flight Instructor in the F-35 for Lockheed Martin. He is a former Senior Air Safety Investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board. He now works in the private sector as a consultant on aviation safety and security matters. He has investigated numerous high profile aviation disasters and will share with us key safety aspects that have evolved from what we learned in various investigations. They are inviting our 99s members attending the conference to join in as mentoring volunteers to work with the Girl Scouts. The girls signing up for this event will complete activities at various stations highlighting different aspects of flight training. Weather permitting, interested young girls may take a short introductory flight with our 99s volunteers.
