With a group of new officers that stepped up to what seemed like an impossible task, we managed to survive. It wasn't just the officers, both men and women, but for all the volunteers and members who didn't give up and supported the Lodge when times were rough. For this I give thanks to each and every one of you. Because of all of you we have come back and good things are heading our way, like being the host Lodge for Mid-Winter Conference in February and many other events that are too many to mention. You can check out the newsletter for upcoming events. It saddens me to see many Lodges closing their doors but, as a wise man once said... united we stand, divided we fall. As members we can stand tall knowing we stood together and stayed alive. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Fraternally, Governor Wally Moose Legion News The next Arrowhead #72 Moose Legion mini celebration will be held at 1:00pm at the Grand Rapids Lodge #2023 on January 5, Following that meeting will be the 1st District meeting and Man of the Year Banquet. Our in house Moose Legion Committee meets the 1st Tuesday of every month at 7:05pm. We call it the Higher Degree/Activities meeting, and we welcome all men and women. Come and support this group that plans most activities for the Lodge. 3 1302 Social Quarters Ramblings Well, the CLC has decided we are not a profitable location for the pull tabs. So they have taken them out. We are looking into other options on that front, so will keep you posted. On to good news, November 5th we will start having DJ Trivia. This will be held each Monday at 6:30. Have heard a lot of good things about this league. Don't know all the rules yet but I do know this is a team activity. No physical prowess needed. Come on in and check it out. Along with our usual pizzas and fry menu, the kitchen is planning to offer a Monday night special. Live entertainment featuring Todd Eckart is scheduled for Friday, November 16th 7-10 pm. The Ugly Sweater and Lodge Decorating party will be held Saturday December 1st and the annual Tom & Jerry Party is December 15th. Also, karaoke is back, Texas Hold'em on Tuesdays at 7:30, and cribbage on Thursdays at 7:15. Kaye Anderson/SQ Manager Hello everyone! News from the Inner Group... The October pasty bake has been completed. It was a little hectic as many of my usual helpers had medical issues that slowed or even required them to not help out. Even a few hours of volunteer help from a handful of people would help us out greatly. A great big thank you to all those who did help out! Our next pasty bake will be in April. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and Christmas times. Our next meeting will be the 4th Tuesday in November. That's November 27th at 6pm at the Moose! No meeting in December. Chapter Chat Line Time has sure flown by and now we are entering the busiest time of the year. With Thanksgiving and Christmas fast approaching, our stress levels are rising also. We tend to get short fused and overwhelmed. We are not always as kind and thoughtful as we should be. We should take a step back and remember what this season is all about. It is a time of giving, peace and joy. We are celebrating the birth of Christ and the bright promises that ringing in the New Year bring to us all. Take the time to enjoy your friends and family. Rejoice and celebrate in all that has been given to us. With that being said, I hope to see all of you at the Lodge so that we can celebrate this most joyous of seasons together. There are a lot of fun things planned in the next two months. Please join in and make this season one that is one filled with love and many fond memories. I wish for all of you a Happy Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. Sr. Regent Elaine Notes from the Recorder Hello everyone! This rain has to stop. But then we will get snow. Again I want to thank everyone who worked this past few months. Our craft sale was held on Oct 6 th. Even though we didn t have a lot of help, the ones that were there were great! We couldn t have done it without you. With the holiday season coming up please look for all the goings on here at the Lodge. Tom and Jerry, Christmas parties and many more. We are always looking for help. Ask any one of the officers. We accept all the help we can get. Our meetings are on the 2 nd and 4 th Wednesday at 7:00pm. 5 From The Office November 1st means 55 days 'til Christmas. I think I'll be ready about January 25th. We've had a couple of busy months. Thank you to all who participated in the blood drive. We collected 17 pints for the blood bank. Way to Go! The next week we were off to St. Cloud for the annual state convention, where we renewed friendships as well as learned a few things. For instance, did you know if you donate to the Moose Charities as an individual through the Donor's Circle, Mooseheart Boosters or the M & M Club and let them know you are a member of Lodge 1302 not only do you get personal credit but the amount also counts towards the Lodge's total giving. It's a 2fer. If you have any questions about this or any of the ways to donate to Moose Charities, I would be happy to help you. The annual Volunteer recognition dinner is scheduled for November 10th. Social hour at 5pm with dinner at 6pm. We will be announcing the "Lee Johnson Volunteer of the Year" recipient following dinner. If you have someone you think should be considered for this award, please let an officer know ASAP. We now have a box in the Social Quarters to collect eyeglasses and hearing aids for the local Lions club. Just drop them in the next time you are at the Lodge. Also in the Social Quarters is a box to collect shampoos, lotions and soaps from your travels at the hotels that still use them. We will also take nail clippers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, new socks, disposable razors etc. Trial sizes are good too. This is to be an ongoing project and will go to a group ( i.e. Chum, Duluth Harbor Mission, Bethany Crisis Shelter etc.) each month or so depending on what's in the box. We will be posting a more detailed list of wanted items. We will continue our mission of community service as we help other groups continue theirs. Mark your calendars for December 15th for the Annual Tom & Jerry party 6-8pm. Show your paid up membership card and receive tickets for 2 free drinks. Of course, if you've forgotten to pay your dues we will happily accept them that evening. An Hors d'oeuvres buffet will be available for a good will donation. Karaoke will start at 8pm and we will be listening and cheering for those wishing to compete to be our Lodge representative in the state karaoke contest. Remember we are the hosts this year for the state Mid-Winter Conference so the state competition will be at our Lodge on February 22nd. The winner will represent our state during the competition at International Convention in Las Vegas. Come on out and sing. The Lodge is looking for someone to keep the lot plowed this winter. If you know of someone interested in taking us on, please let myself or an officer know so we may negotiate a deal. Also, we are going to schedule an early spring cleaning day or weekend late in January. I will make up a list of things needing to be done (i.e. washing down all the chairs and stools, windows, pictures etc.) After all we have a lot of company coming in February.
