6 INTERAGENCY NEWSLETTER PAGE 6 Prairie Central FASD Association Service Options for Seniors Tax season will soon be upon us again! The S.O.S. Program partners with the Canada Revenue Agency to provide a volunteer tax filing service for low income individuals of all ages. This service is provided by 3 volunteers and is for anyone with an income below $30,000 (single) or $40,000 (couple). A donation is welcome but otherwise there is no charge for this service. Filing annually and on time ensures continuity of benefits as well as the opportunity to apply for further supports as required. Please call for more information. The S.O.S. Cafe is a great way to connect with your neighbours and your community. S.O.S. Café is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the S.O.S. program office. Free coffee and snacks are provided, while we host a casual Q & A, with different community stakeholders that serve seniors. 8 INTERAGENCY NEWSLETTER PAGE 8 Canadian Mental Health Association Canadian Mental Health s Caregiver Connection Support Group Caregiver Connections is a drop in peer to peer family support group for parents and any caregiver of children and/or adults with a mental health concern. There is no charge or registration needed. The group runs Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at CMHA ( ave). Please call CMHA for more information at Camrose & Area Adult Learning Council Winter 2019 Courses & Services for Adults & Families Let s Get Out in Nature and Connect with the Great Outdoor - In this 4-week nature program, families will explore and learn about various aspects of the natural world right here in Camrose. Tuesdays, April 09 to April 30, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. The program is for parents together with their children. Pre-registration is required. $20 per family. Practical Writing and Reading Skills for Life and Work Course - Learn how to read product information, WHMIS safety sheets, workplace procedures and instructions effectively so that you understand and remember what you read and can find information you need and the answers to your questions in the workplace. Writing skills you will learn include writing business letters, instructions, s, progress reports, store updates, filling out forms and charts, and general paperwork. Wednesdays. 6 to 9 pm for 8 weeks. April 10 to May 29, 2019 Cost: $50. Register by April 4, Intake interview required. Trades Entrance Exam Prep, GED Exam Prep or Practical Nurse Math Prep Online Courses Online courses with face-to-face tutor support. Start anytime. 12 weeks long. Intake interview required. Cost: $ plus textbooks. Resume Development Workshops Learn how to create an effective resume completed by you. Wednesdays 9:30 to 11:30 am. Must pre-register. No Cost. Practical Math Skills for Life and Work Course Learn how to do math functions, without a calculator, for retail and service occupations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, percentage, and making change. Learn about calculating quantities, volume, weights and measures for inventory, dry goods, produce, and recipes. Figure out amounts of supplies for home improvements using area, perimeter, and volume. Convert from fractions into decimals. Tuesdays. 5 to 7 pm for 8 weeks. April 9 to May 28, Cost: $50. March 8 is International Women s Day. Drop by and help us create inspirational art for our office. A fun and relaxing way to spend a couple of hours with other women! Everyday women come into our office to find encouragement and support to improve their literacy skills, finish their high school, get their GED, learn English, and build workplace skills to improve their lives and the lives of their families. We have a long hallway which leads to our classrooms. My dream is to cover the walls of the hallway with inspirational art pieces: quotes, paintings, and collages. Drop by our office (end of main street beside Arron s Furniture) on March 8 anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and spend some time creating art for our walls. Stay as long or as little as you like. I will supply the art materials. Bring a friend! Looking for ESL Adults who want to improve their English Language Reading & Writing Skills ESL Practical Writing and Reading Skills for Life and Work Course Improve your reading comprehension and your writing skills for work and daily life. Small group learning environment. Suitable for ESL Learners who can read and write at a CLB 6 or 7 level. Thursdays. 6 to 9 pm for 8 weeks. March 7 to April 25, Cost: $50. Intake interview required. 13 INTERAGENCY NEWSLETTER PAGE 13 Camrose Women s Shelter Society Camrose Women s Shelter Society operates a 22 bed facility that offers services in support of women and children requiring emergency shelter due to domestic violence, crisis situations or homelessness. We are currently recruiting for the following position: Must have a minimum of ECD Level 1 to qualify. PERMANENT PART-TIME CHILD CARE WORKER The Child Care Worker provides support to children in Shelter through coordination and implementation of inhouse and community activities, and encourages and promotes healthy parent-child interaction through example and support. Must be aware of the symptoms of child abuse. Preferred applicants plan and implement age-appropriate play and supportive programming for children. Activities may include crafts, outings, sports, exercise, games and learning opportunities. The Worker provides care and maintenance of children s equipment, including cleaning duties. Ongoing file documentation is required. The applicant must be prepared to provide childcare for a variety of ages, have compassion, and have worked with families. Current First Aid, CPR, criminal record and child welfare checks are required. Starting wage: $ Minimum Hours of work required, with the ability to be flexible should the need arise: Monday-1:00-5:00; Tuesday-1:00-5:00 (1 st and 3 rd Tuesday of the month from 1:00-8:30); Wednesday-4:30-8:30; Saturday-9:00-6:00 Closing date for all applications: February 28, 2019 Please forward applications to: admin@camrosewomenshelter.org

Set in present-day Ontario, Concord Floral re-imagines Boccaccio's medieval allegory "The Decameron", in which ten teens must flee a mysterious plague.
