1 Newsletter (03) ISSUE # Hi everyone, Please join me in congratulating our own Jessica McCulloch for her outstanding success at the Special Olympics in Los Angeles, USA. Jessica represented Australia as a team member of the ladies basketball team and is now a proud gold medal winner!! Jessica has also been selected for the Australian Pearls (Australians Women s Basketball for players with an ID) and will again represent Australia to participate in the fourth INAS Global Games in Ecuador, South America in September this year. Congratulations to our Primary Students for their participation in this year s Special School s Primary Concert. The students had a great day and my thanks go to all staff and parents for their support of this exciting event over the last few weeks. Thank you to all the families who have returned the Parent Opinion survey Please be reminded to observe the No Parking signs around the school premises. 2 Yulendj Laang Making Connections Our senior Koorie students had lots of fun learning about their culture, making new friends, meeting AIME mentors at Monash University. Alice also received an AIME hoody as part of her AIME Year 12 Graduation Ceremony. A big thankyou to Adam and his team! We look forward to our next AIME activity day.

3 Class 4 News Class 4 have been very busy and having fun learning. We especially love Cooking with Gen on Wednesdays! We had a party to say thank you to Hannah for being our teacher.

7 Strengthening Pathways Class 12: Mya had a great experience at Karingal in Rosebud for a Come and Try Day on Tuesday 21 st of August. She spent time in the kitchen, working with other people making food Banana Bread, for St Vinnies. Mya was a positive representative for our school and it was great to see her fitting in and chatting to other members of the Karingal Team. Well Done Mya! We look forward to hearing how Ashlinn s work experience goes at Camp Munyung in September. We had a blast at the All Sports Fun Day trying different sports and honing our skills.

8 Events Class 8 are sending entries to help the Geelong Wool Museum break a Guiness World Record by building the world s largest flock of handmade pom-pom sheep 10,000 of them. We are seeking donations of wool to help us with our project. Many thanks, Class 8 Riding Develops Abilities is raising money for a new horse shelter. Digger, Rosco and their friends want to stay warm and dry in the cold weather and would love a roof over their stables. RDA is looking for donations of $5 to raise money for this structure. Donations can be made following the link below. RDA and Peninsula Specialist College appreciate your help and support! Tuesday 8 th September We are seeking donations for prizes for our Raffle at the Springtime Fair. We are also looking for donations of suitable items to be used as prizes for our Odds & Evens Spinning wheel e.g. stuffed toys, small toys, jewellery, hats etc. Further donations for our Second Hand Goods stall would be greatly appreciated. e.g. Books, bric-a-brac, clean toys, homewares, gifts etc. (No Glass or Ceramic Please) We are also looking for gazebo/marquees to use on the day for class stalls. Some of the activities will include: Crazy Hair, Plant Stall, Disco/Karaoke, $1 Shop, Face Painting, Sausage Sizzle, Popcorn, Odds & Evens and much, much more! We will be holding our Father s Day stall on Wednesday 2 nd September.
