3 Chapter Overview Mission Statement The University of Alabama at Birmingham s chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA I UAB) dedicates growth, development, and involvement between the UAB campus and the Birmingham community. AMA I UAB welcomes all students, regardless of his or her major, to join our efforts in building a strong relationship within the community. Our chapter strengthens relationships by providing members with marketing tools and techniques, sharing vital business knowledge, and leading professional development workshops. Executive Summary As future marketers and business professionals in the world, we realize the need for skillful workers is in high need. "Mint Your Future" is our theme. Being that marketing is constantly changing in technology, social media, and business we want our members to become accustomed to change so that they are prepared and know how to adapt in the real world. Our purpose for our chapter is to prepare members for the professional world. Executive Board AMA UAB has an executive board that consists of dedicated students in the Collat School of Business. Board members work continuously to help students develop skills that will help them in the business world. Executive board members range from senior marketing students to junior Industrial Distribution majors. We are committed students that possess skills in sales, entrepreneurship, advertising, communications, graphic design and more. 3

8 Fundraising Fundraising is the backbone of our organization, like sponsorship it is important for the AMA to have sufficient funds to support the events and activities we want to have for our members. We separate fundraising and sponsorship because the two have different goals and expectations associated with each. Fundraising takes the effort of the entire club and Collat School of business. These events not only generate income but are a fun way to get members involved. Objective: Generate monetary income for the AMA at UAB. Goal: The overall goal for fundraising is to raise enough money to support all of the endeavors our board and members would like to participate in. Strategy: + Percentage Days/Nights at local eateries. 9 Sponsorship Separating Sponsorship and Fundraising was a bold move for the AMA at UAB, but overall we believe having a VP for each will increase our monetary income this semester. Our preview of our sponsorship packet is featured below. This is what we present to potential sponsors along with a presentation about our organization. Our Members: Since its founding in 2008, the American Marketing Association Student Chapter at the University of Alabama at Birmingham has helped students increase their understanding of the world of marketing through various professional development events, and marketing disciplines and activities. Our members share one thing in common - the desire to be the best marketers they can be. Our Vision: The American Marketing Association UAB Chapter offers students a venue for continuing education while preparing them for the real-world challenges facing today s marketing professionals. Our Mission: To provide Birmingham s future marketing professionals with leading resources for continuing education, career development, peer-to-peer networking and opportunities to meet high-profile guest speakers, and access to trusted marketing strategies.
