4 Moey Matters Help ad support Helpig teats idetify what beefits ad paymets they are etitled to is part of the work of our Fiacial Iclusio Team. They have helped people claim thousads of pouds i beefits ad offered advice ad iformatio about how to make moey go further. We have icluded here two recet cases that had a very positive outcome for the people ivolved. Back paymets I the first case we were able to help a ew teat claim 6,600 i back paymets. Followig a visit from a Neighbourhood Support Officer the teat was put i touch with our Fiacial Iclusio Team to check what beefits he might be etitled to. A Fiacial Iclusio Officer visited him at his home ad idetified his etitlemet to Housig Beefit, a Coucil Tax refud ad his eligibility for State Retiremet Pesio paymets the teat was over 65 but still workig ad did ot thik he could claim his state pesio. The officer was able to help the teat complete his Housig Beefit Form ad sed off the relevat iformatio. She phoed the Pesio Service, with the teat s permissio ad completed the claim over the phoe ad also helped to idetify that he was etitled to Pesio Credit. I our secod case we were able to help a teat who was i arrears ad affected by the Welfare Reform chages. The teat, a sigle perso claimig Housig Beefit, was uder occupyig the property by two bedrooms ad was therefore subject to a 25% Housig Beefit reductio. The Fiacial Iclusio Officer helped the teat to apply for Discretioary Housig Paymet (DHP) to help with the uder occupatio charge. As a result they received a week for 26 weeks. At the ed of that time the Officer helped the teat make a fresh applicatio which resulted i a further award of per week for 16 weeks. We also made the teat aware of Persoal Idepedet Paymet a beefit paid to people with certai disabilities which limit their daily lives ad referred them to the Citizes Advice Bureau for additioal debt advice. The teat successfully applied for the Paymet ad worked with the Citize Advice Bureau to obtai a debt relief order. 5 Welfare Reform Itroductio of Uiversal Credit What is it? As part of the Govermet s chages to the beefits system, a ew paymet system called Uiversal Credit is beig itroduced that will brig about chages to the way people s beefits are paid. Uiversal Credit replaces the followig beefits: Housig Beefit Icome Support Icome-Based Jobseekers Allowace Icome-Related Employmet ad Support Allowace Child Tax Credit Workig Tax Credit Whe will it come ito force? This will be itroduced betwee September ad November 2015 ad you will eed to claim olie. Will I be affected by this? If you are curretly claimig welfare beefits you will ot be directly affected by Uiversal Credit straight away but you will be moved across to Uiversal Credit i the ear future. However, if you have to make a ew claim for beefits ad are sigle the you will eed to claim Uiversal Credit whe this is itroduced from September This will the be rolled out to iclude ew claims for couples ad claimats with childre. What this meas to me ad how will it be paid? Oce you receive Uiversal Credit, your Housig Beefit will o loger be paid directly to your ladlord but will be paid straight to you. This meas you will become resposible for esurig your ret is paid o time. What do I eed to do? You will eed to make sure you have a bak accout or buildig society accout set up for these paymets to be made. As paymets will be made four weeks i arrears, you are advised to pay a little extra each week to get your accouts i credit i preparatio for Uiversal Credit Do you require further help ad assistace? I April it was fatastic to be shortlisted for Social Ladlord of the Year i the 2015 Housig Excellece Awards. Here are just some of the thigs we have supported over the past few moths: BMX i Mickley Last year saw the official opeig of a ew BMX track i Mickley. Rykeld Homes helped to support the project ad is ow kee to help yougsters make best use of the fatastic facility. I May our Commuity Ivolvemet Team hosted a cosultatio evet to geerate iterest i establishig a BMX Club. More tha 50 youg people ad adults atteded ad ejoyed competitios ru by Extreme Wheels. There was also a opportuity to wi a Rayleigh BMX Bike ad Helmet i a free raffle. So far this summer we have atteded evets i Reishaw, North Wigfield, Haslad, Holmewood, Morto, ad Killamarsh with more plaed i Clay Cross ad Grassmoor. I Reishaw our youg Commuity Improvers worked with Sportig Futures ad the Commuity Safety Partership to help orgaise the evet. I North Wigfield we gave support to a ope day at the local commuity allotmet ad i Holmewood we worked with the parish coucil, Village Games, North East Derbyshire District Coucil, the local foodbak ad Church to help orgaise the first fu day i may years held o the cricket groud. Staff at Rykeld Homes supported the charity walk orgaised by the Killamarsh Teats ad Residets Forum to raise fuds for Ashgate Hospice. The 12-mile walk i Jue was from Ashgate Hospice to Killamarsh Sports Cetre. We will also be attedig the Clay Cross Gala ad the Grassmoor Galas i July. Puttig dow roots Our Neighbourhood Services ad Commuity Ivolvemet Teams joied forces with Wigerworth Parish Coucil to plat saplig trees ad shrubs o lad at Adligto Park i Wigerworth to act as a barrier agaist high wids. Supportig local groups I the last few moths we have bee able to offer fudig through our Neighbourhood Improvemet Budget to two local orgaisatios. Drofield Getle Exercise Group A group which meets weekly for getle chair based exercises were awarded 389 from our Neighbourhood Improvemet Budget to give it a more secure future. The group meet at Drofield Baptist Church. Secretary Ae Joes said We would like to say thak you to Rykeld for supportig our group, it is appreciated by all who come to the classes. The sessios help to keep us movig ad provide a social meetig poit where we make ew frieds. Although we pay 3 per week, there are some weeks whe this is ot eough to cover the cost of holdig the class, so this award is very importat. Tiy tots play group A mother ad toddler group was awarded 435 from the Neighbourhood Improvemet Budget to develop a desigated baby area at the Church Hall i Eckigto. This will help to make the facility safer ad more colourful. The group which meets o Thursday 9.30am am were extremely grateful for the support. Homig i 11

Over the past two years, i partership with the Coucil ad the Homes ad Commuities Agecy (HCA), we have ivested millios of pouds to improve housig i North East Derbyshire. We are proud of our achievemet ad look forward to welcomig teats ad families ito the ew homes - helpig to ease the housig shortage i our area. New homes i Grassmoor I Jue we completed our ew build scheme i Grassmoor. This has ivolved replacig ie prefabricated bugalows o Keats Way which were hard to heat ad keep warm, with a total of 24 brad ew properties. The developmet icludes 14 two-bedroomed bugalows ad 10 semi-detached houses. The houses are a mixture of two ad three-bedroomed properties ad have all bee built to a high stadard. North East Derbyshire District Coucil Member for Housig, Cllr Betty Hill, said: We are delighted to see the completio of these brad ew homes i Grassmoor. By workig i partership with Rykeld Homes ad the HCA we have bee able to build additioal homes o the site ad help to ease the housig shortage i our district. Icluded i the developmet are 15 homes owed ad maaged by Rykeld Homes. I Killamarsh phase two of the scheme to create 24 ew bugalows is earig completio ad the majority of existig teats have moved ito their ew home. These improvemets to Marx Court follow other sigificat works carried out i 2014 whe we fitted a ew eergy efficiet heatig system ad carried out Decet Homes work to kitches ad bathrooms.
