Brief highlights f PAN s prgress in addressing pririty issues previusly identified at past PHA Frums 1) Stigma Institutinal vs Persnal Andrew B. Stigma has been identified as a PAN pririty fr the last cuple years. PAN will be acting as the prvincial crdinatr and rlling ut in BC, the Glbal Stigma Index Prject fr which funding has been received frm the Vancuver Fundatin and the CIHR Centre fr REACH. In

3 terms f natinal rll-ut, the first CIHR perating grant applicatin was unsuccessful but is being re-submitted this mnth. PAN has als been wrking with the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Netwrk and a number f PAN member and allied rganizatins arund criminalizatin f HIV nn-disclsure. 2) End f AIDS Exceptinalism r the Nrmalizatin f AIDS Hesham A. PAN is cllabrating with AIDS service rganizatins and researchers in Atlantic Canada n the Rethinking ASOs? Prject. This prject is in the planning stage fr a larger research prject and is wrking t create a safe place t discuss changes in plicy and shifts in expanding HIV services t include related cnditins. 3) Cntinuing Educatin Darren L. PLDI: The Psitive Leadership Develpment Institute is nging in ffering three levels f leadership training (Cre Leadership training, Cmmunicatin Skills training, and Bard Gvernance (Bred? Get n Bard!) training). PLDI has partnered with the Psitive Wmen s Netwrk t engage mre wmen in PLDI, and thrugh funding frm the MAC AIDS Fund were able t hst a reunin event fr PLDI grads Yu re a Leader! Nw What?. Cngratulatins t Dakta D. wh is nw a full certified PLDI trainer, and t Valerie N. and Jhn D. wh are trainers-in-training! Other trainings cming up: PAN will be hsting a wrkfrce develpment cnference fr peple wrking in Frntline Supprt. The prgram will include a sessin with Yvette Perreault frm the AIDS Bereavement and Resiliency Prgram f Ontari; Prvince Wide Service Prviders Educatin Initiative that will be explring the challenges f wrking with clients arund HIV criminalizatin and nndisclsure including a presentatin by Micheal Vnn frm the BC Civil Liberties Assciatin; and ther pieces still tbd. PAN is als wrking with CATIE n their Blended Learning Initiative. 6:40-8:10 9. 5 Questins and cmments frm the rm: Hw des the First Natins Health Authrity fit within the current bard structure? Ie. Smene wh may fit within VCH and the FNHA? Endrse having 6 seats reserved fr peple living with HIV, but mixed feelings abut representatin having t be by health authrity regins since there are mre peple with HIV in sme health authrities. At the same time, it is imprtant fr the varius health authrities t be represented since every regin has unique challenges. As a grup we are kay that PAN lks at this further, it is nt set in stne, but sme feelings f if it ain t brke, dn t fix it (Jhn C.). Bard electin prcess 1: Shuld part f the requirements f becming a member f the PAN bard fr ne f the psitive designate seats, be that the persn have t have taken the Cre Training f the Psitive Leadership Develpment Institute (PLDI)? Bard electin prcess 2: Des the reginal apprach t PAN Bard electins still serve PAN well (right nw we have 2 bard seats frm each health authrity regin, nt including First Natins Health Authrity) culd we perhaps lk at changing that s nly ½ are reginally specific and the rest are flating seats? Or make all flating seats, but with clearer jb descriptins/expectatin f bard members including that they have t cnnect with regins n a regular basis, reprt n their cncerns and are accuntable t thse regins? Hw d we ensure sufficient reginal representatin yet at the same time ensure that thse elected t the PAN bard have capacity; and als that bard seats are filled (e.g. smetimes sme seats sit empty depending n the regin). Questins and cmments frm the rm: Cnundrum: if there is n interest frm ne regin that seat remains pen and the bard will wrk thrughut the year t fill that seat, but in PAN s histry, there have been sme perid where bard seats have gne empty fr years. Part f the reasn fr pening up the frum t peple ther than PAN member delegates is t increase interest in these types f psitins at the same time, in rder t be elected t the bard, as it currently stands, smene needs t be the fficial representative f a PAN member rganizatin. Frum agreed that it is alright fr PAN t explre ptins.

6 Timing f Frum: Shuld we eliminate the requirement that the Frum needs t precede the AGM by 24 hurs (is a greater amunt f time kay?) Questins and cmments frm the rm: Currently this frum must take place within 24 hurs f the AGM. Frum agrees there shuld be wiggle rm. 10.
