Our centre in Cairns is one of six throughout the state and has provided services to children with ASD and their families since This year Autism Queensland will celebrate its 50th year of operation. ASD is a complex lifelong developmental disability that affects a person s ability to communicate, and interact with and cope in everyday situations. While the symptoms of ASD vary greatly from person to person, the main areas of difficulty are in social awareness and interaction, communication and restricted and repetitive behaviour. The cause of ASD is not fully understood however appropriate early interventions, therapy and education delivered by professionals with expertise in ASD can make a significant difference. By supporting the Autism Queensland Charity Golf Day you will help us to make a lifelong and positive difference to the lives of Queenslanders with ASD and their families.
