3 GYN SCHOOL JULY 12-14, 2014 An Invitation to Join Us Dear Colleagues: We are pleased to host the FIRST multidisciplinary Gynecologic Cancers Symposium, led by the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), and co-sponsored by ASCO, ASTRO, and SGO, in Chicago, Illinois, from July 12-14, This will be the first combined meeting of these distinguished societies and is meant to foster collaboration between radiation oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and medical oncologists. To begin the meeting, cervical brachytherapy, intact cervix and vulvar contouring workshops will be available for participation on July 12th. There will also be a concurrent difficult brachytherapy case session to attend. On July 13-14th, this first multidisciplinary Gynecologic Cancer Symposium will focus on state-of-the-science topics related to endometrial, vulvar, and cervical cancers. Experts from all specialties will participate in these presentations. Podium and poster abstracts will also be presented. With this collaborative effort, our hope is to further the management of patients with gynecologic cancers and also provide a valuable learning experience for the physicians who care for them. 6 LEARNING OBJECTIVES The 2014 ABS GYN School Will Allow Participants to: 1 Describe recent advances in the management of GYN cancer with brachytherapy 2 Integrate and apply in your daily practice recent ABS GYN brachytherapy guidelines 3 Apprise recent GYN cancer clinical trials 4 Explain concepts and controversies in management and optimal use of brachytherapy in endometrial cancer 5 Integrate and apply in daily practice advances in GYN cancer imaging and their appropriate clinical applications 6 Understand the clinical implications and practical steps to management of vulvar cancer 7 Formulate and appropriately integrate various imaging modalities GYN brachytherapy 8 Determine patients selection, planning and clinical outcomes for endometrial, cervical and vulvar cancer treated with combined modality therapy 9 Analyze the controversies and appropriate clinical indications for surgical lymph node dissection in endometrial cancer and sentinel node dissection in endometrial and vulvar cancer 10 Analyze the controversies and appropriate clinical indications for combined modality therapy including GYN brachytherapy 11 Analyze and discuss the controversies and appropriate clinical indications for SBRT vs. GYN brachytherapy 12 Evaluate difficult cases in GYN cancers with audience participation 13 Apprise the role, principles and techniques in cervical cancer brachytherapy 14 Understand the clinical implications with new advances in clinical brachytherapy including Image Guided Brachytherapy (IGBT) 15 Understand and apprise integration of new brachytherapy technologies into the routine practice Contouring Workshops 1 Review the normal anatomy relevant for GYN cancer 2 Be able to accurately contour GTV, CTV and PTV for GYN cancer planning. 3 Discuss, review and practice contouring challenging cases.
