8 Chamber of Commerce Meeting May 10, 2017 Present:, Dena Beck, Erica Hansen, Janene Hill, Natalie Janda, Joelle Knott, Kevin Krull, Carol Loschen, Simon McKenzie, Conner Paterson, Kim Snavely, and Chamber Director Marcia Davis. Absent: Jeanne Jons, and Dawn Thompson. Meeting was called to order at 12:10 p.m. by President Kevin Krull Janene Hill moved to approve the Secretary minutes from the Annual meeting and the March and April meetings. Erica Hansen, second motion carried. Dena Beck moved to approve the Treasurer s reports as submitted for March and April. Conner Peterson second, motion approved. Old Business I. All Class Reunion Dena Beck updated the Board on plans for the Minden All School Reunion in July. She reviewed a brochure that will be given to Alumni at registration which will highlight businesses for them to visit while in town. II Partnership recruitment Marcia Davis provided updated information on Chamber recruitment efforts. To date she has received 100 partnership renewals and 2 in-kind renewals. The recruitments have brought in $21, as of this report. Discussion was held on contacting businesses that have not renewed or are new. III. Eclipse Event The Chamber has been approached by Marshall Nelson and Pioneer Village to see if there would be any interest in promoting events surrounding the Eclipse in August. Discussion was held on the timing of the event, the number of events already planned in communities close to Minden and the duration of the event as a whole. The Chamber will not take on this event based on the reasons discussed. IV. PHONE: The Chamber office has been informed that Pinpoint will be discontinuing service in the Minden Area effective June 1st. Marcia presented bids for three different phone carriers and phone/internet bundling options with those carriers. Discussion was held costs, bundling services and the need for making a timely decision on a new provider. Marcia Davis and Dena Beck will contact the carriers with the questions raised in our discussion and make the final decision on services based on their contacts and board discussion. New Business I. Thursday Night Entertainment - Marcia Davis updated the Board on the plans in place for Thursday Night entertainment at Chautauqua Park. Events are slated to begin on the June 29th and run through the 3rd of August. II. Deal of the Week: The campaign kicked off last week and New Deals will be seen on a weekly basis. Deals have been line up through May and June. III. Chamber Bucks A discussion was held on issuing Chamber Bucks in only $5.00 and $10.00 increments in the future. No decision was made at this time. IV. Street Dance - Joelle Knott presented a bid for insurance coverage for the Minden Street Dance. The coverage would protect Chamber up-front costs in the event of cancellation due to rain on the date of the event. Dena Beck moved that the coverage for $3, on a ¼ of rain on the date of the event at a cost of $ be approved. Erica Hansen second, motion carried. Committees: I. Ambassadors, June 14, 12-1 pm.
