Dental Personnel Resources Management & Oral Health Planning (2005 & 2013) Guided in developing a web based software following consensus at a workshop held under the aegis of the Ministry of Health, Government of India, to facilitate online registration of

3 dental professionals in the country which can provide authentic data on state wise dental healthcare providers at a point of time. The project is currently being implemented. 2. Oral Cancer Foundation (2007) Established the Oral Cancer Foundation to help early detection and prevention of oral cancer and to conduct research. Under its banner, training is being organized for healthcare professionals for early detection and treatment of oral precancerous lesions. Spot and Prevent Oral Cancer Trauma (SPOT) Centres are being set up as a part of dental clinics for early detection and treatment. An ORAL CANCER REGISTRY (2011), the first of its kind in the country, was launched for compilation of exclusive information on oral cancer. 3. Tobacco Intervention Initiative (TII) 2009 TII was launched for counselling and de addiction of tobacco use. TII Centres were set up in dental clinics for tobacco cessation and counselling. Healthcare professionals are trained in tobacco cessation to reduce the incidence of tobacco related diseases. Over 1000 Centres are currently part of dental clinics in the country and over 250,000 patients have availed of counselling services. About 5000 SPOT & TII Centres are planned across the country. 4. Child Dental Foundation (2010) Child Dental Foundation was set up to improving oral health of children. Under its banner, Child Dental Centres for prevention of dental caries in children started functioning consistent with the Global Caries Initiatives to eradicate caries and thus improve the oral and general health of children and others in the country. 5. Accredited Continuing Dental Education Programme (2007) Launched CDE Accreditation Program and designed and developed online CDE module aimed at professional advancement of members. Organized CDE Programs jointly with University of California, San Francisco, USA and arranged sponsorship for CDE programmes 6. IDA Educational Training Centre (2010) The IDA Educational Training Centre facilitates continuing professional development through exposure to the latest global changes in dental science through hands on course s to hone the skills and prepare the dentists to face the challenges of their professional future. ETCs are the conduit for the conduct of CDE programs. 7. Dental Research Foundation (2011) Dental Research Foundation was set up to develop necessary research infrastructure to promote strategic dental research initiatives and to compile and assimilate research information to foster innovation and advance knowledge, including establishing valuable research partnerships 8. Emergency Dental Centre (2011) It is a novel initiative to provide to the patients steady, reliable and uninterrupted dental service throughout the week 24 hours on all days of the week. It is an innovative social scheme to improve oral health in the country. Besides, it provides successful practice every dental professional yearns for. 9. Dental Practice Accreditation (2011) Initiated standardization of dental office and treatment procedures with added focus on infection control to improve the quality of service rendered.

4 10. Corporate House Oral Health Check Up (2011) It is consistent with IDA s goal of optimal oral health for all. The idea of conducting oral health examination of staff of corporate houses is to ensure optimal oral health for all thereby generating greater oral health awareness and improving oral health of the nation. 11. Emergency Dental Centre (2011) It is a novel initiative to provide to the patients steady, reliable and uninterrupted dental service throughout the week 24 hours on all days of the week. It is an innovative social scheme to improve oral health in the country. Besides, it provides successful practice every dental professional yearns for. 12. National Oral Health Programme (2012) The National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) takes care of oral health management of all segments of population, viz., children, adult, the elderly and the disabled, and reflects IDA s goal and commitment to dental excellence aimed at improving the national health index. By covering a vast range of oral healthcare components it ensures prevention, early detection and management of diseases of the dental, oral, and craniofacial tissues. 13. IDA Health Centre (2006) Dentists invariably are exposed to various types of diseases carried by their patients. Diseases like HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis and the like suffered by patients pose a threat to the safety of the dental professionals running their clinics. To safeguard the health of members set up a Health Centre to provide free medical check up to all its members and staff against infectious diseases. 14. IDA Publications Added new publications The IDA Times, Clinical Dentistry, Oral Health, Student Digest, Product Profile and Dental Events to the existing single publication, Journal of (JIDA). Launched an Indian Edition of The Journal of American Dental Association (JADA) to cater to the growing needs of the dental fraternity in the country. A new publication titled SMILES depicting the oral systemic disease linkages and exploring the disease connections will shortly be launched. 15. Membership Development The growth of an organization depends on the quality of its people, their enthusiasm and professional ethos. Successfully developed programme specific software packages to help organize systems & procedures to improve performance standards and enhance membership development. 7 Candidate for FDI Councillor 2014 I am Ashok Dhoble, a member totally committed to the and FDI. I am seeking election to the FDI Council at the ensuing FDI General Assembly elections. If elected I propose to do the following: My Vision and Mission FDI is a global institution assisting member nations in its quest to lead them to optimal oral health. Hence my vision is to create an environment that promotes quality oral health services and recognition of oral health as an important component of general health. To fulfil this vision, FDI needs to be strengthened, its base widened by enlarging membership and making it financially strong and stable. Efforts to reinforce the commitment of member nations governments to improving oral health services and initiating steps to ensure accessibility of oral health services responsive to the needs of the people will be made. My mission is to help FDI achieve its goal through advocacy, education, training and research; to harness the imagination and commitment of key players from a variety of institutions and stakeholders; and to enhance the global image of the dental fraternity as a caring and committed service provider. Wide and Varied Experience is my Forte My vast and wide experience as an orthodontist and serving Indian Dentistry in various capacities over the past 30 years have well equipped me to effectively serve on the FDI Council. As Hon Secretary of the, I have been actively involved in devising programmes and projects designed to serve the oral healthcare delivery needs of the poor, underprivileged and the disabled, besides promoting professional advancement of members. I have been able to reform and reinvent the to remain in sync with the current trends, technological developments and the rapidly evolving dental science to meet the growing needs of oral healthcare in India through numerous associations and public private partnerships consistent with the FDI mission s goal of leading the world to optimal oral health. Widening the membership base and establishing IDA as a financially strong and stable organization of professional excellence has been my forte. My experience backs me up to bring a new vision to the operations of FDI. If elected, my priorities would be to: try and make FDI more visible to the masses enlarge FDI membership of countries and enhance resource mobilisation efforts facilitate public private partnerships for sustained improvement in oral healthcare and to combat oral cancer and other Non Communicable Diseases involve the media to a greater extent in spreading awareness campaigns on oral healthcare, particularly oral cancer and tobacco cessation engage associated partners in evolving appropriate technologies and generating resources to serve the needs of the underprivileged and the disabled wider use of global communication and media to enhance the awareness impact, and better networking among FDI member countries and make them more unified to serve the FDI goal
