1 Fitness Assessment: Help set goals for yourself by assessing your body at different times of the year. Personal trainers will be on hand to physically assess any individual. A 1-mile walk/run test, blood pressure, flexibility, and body fat composition are the assessments offered each time. A brief consultation with a personal trainer will conclude the assessment. Two participants will be scheduled every 15 minutes. Assessments last for approximately 45 minutes. 3 Group Aerobic Classes: FREE to Rec-Plex Members! General Public: $44/month or $9.50/visit Advance Registration Required! Classes meet in Lower Level Aerobics Room for 1 hour except as noted on monthly schedule. Active Older Adult Classes meet in Upper Aerobics Room. No classes Jan 1 and May 27. There will be a revised schedule April due to floor maintenance. Our Group Aerobics classes offer something for just about anyone, with instructors pushing you to reach a great workout, and providing modifications to help beginners. Rec-Plex members get FREE Group Aerobics as part of their member benefits! Sign up to be a Rec-Plex member today to attend as many classes as you wish. Or, you may pay the monthly Group Aerobics fee. This class incorporates beginner principles of tai chi with a smooth progression into new forms aimed at improving balance, coordination and strength. This program is recommended by the CDC and incorporates tai chi principles for improving health and wellness, as well as being proven effective for fall prevention. Tai chi practice of 50 hours or more has shown to reduce fall risk. Seated options are available in this class for those needing chair assistance. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. 4 Indoor Triathlon: Are you ready to get a head start on the triathlon season? The Rec-Plex has just the program - Indoor Triathlons! Held on select Sunday evenings for $19 per event. These indoor triathlons will be offered in two competition categories, Long Course and Short Course. The Short Course will consist of a 300 yard swim in the pool, a 10 mile ride on the RPX Cycling bikes, and a 3 mile run on a treadmill. NOTE: Those interested in Long Course must register for the earlier time slot. The Long Course will consist of a 500 yard swim in the pool, a 15 mile ride on the RPX Cycling bikes, and a 5 mile run on a treadmill. Advance registration is suggested because space is limited. Drop-ins are allowed on a space available basis. The drop-in fee is $24. Minimum age is 12 years. 5 Rules of the Road Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the class for proper bike set up. Bring a towel and water bottle for each class. Heart rate monitors, stiff-soled shoes or cycling shoes, gel seats, and bike pants are recommended. Please wear a different pair of shoes to class if changing into cycling shoes. Notify the trainer of any injuries. Drop-Ins are allowed on a space-available basis. Contact the Rec-Plex for schedule changes, information on drop-in fees, and class availability. ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS MUST ARRIVE AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE CLASS BEGINS TO GUARANTEE THEY HAVE A BIKE. Children ages may attend with a participating parent; however, there are height restrictions. Participants need to be about 5 tall to use the spinning bikes. Minimum class size is 5. RPX Cycling: Experience the high energy and excitement of Rec-Plex Xtreme Indoor Cycling. RPX Cycling is a 60-minute indoor cycling program that burns calories and gives you a great cardio workout. Your coach will lead you up hills, flats, and mountain peaks all to the beat of high-intensity music. The class will cover some workout scenarios - Individualized workout plans should be designed in a followup one-on-one personal training session. Attendance at both classes is required. 1. Students ages 12 & 13 MUST HAVE A PARENT ACCOMPANY THEM DURING CLASS & WHEN WORKING OUT AT REC-PLEX. The parent does not pay to attend the course. 2. Students ages 14 & 15 may attend class on their own, and then have the privilege of using the fitness areas without a parent, although adult supervision is recommended. 3. This is a revocable privilege and fitness area usage may be suspended if improper or unsafe behavior is observed. 4. A fitness card will be issued upon completion of the course. Participants will contribute to the rules and design of the activities, leading to a fun experience of healthy competition and exercise. Each class is unique!
