If you still have any queries we have a large team of professionals to help you make your time at the University of Birmingham the best years of your life. Zena Wooldridge, Director of Sport On behalf of the whole team at UBSport, we are delighted you have chosen the University of Birmingham. UBSport offers some fantastic lifestyle opportunities around your study. Though we have an impressive reputation in competitive sport, we also have a long tradition of providing a broad choice of non-competitive, beginner and improver level active lifestyle opportunities for everyone. The hub for most activities is the Munrow Sports Centre on central campus, which includes a broad range of indoor facilities alongside excellent floodlit and grass pitches and our own athletics track. Find out much more by visiting our website, or please drop in and visit us UBSport staff will be happy to answer all your questions. One of the highlights of Welcome Week is the Sports Fair in the Munrow Centre on Wed 24 September, showcasing all the opportunities available with all the advice you need to get involved. Also look out for the UBSport Big Events which happen throughout the year. Please come and explore what s on offer. You never know what talents and new interests you might uncover. You will probably never experience the same opportunity to try something entirely new. Whether playing, learning a new sport or activity, coaching, or supporting the university teams, sport has so much to offer at Birmingham, so come along and be part of it. Mark Smith, Chemistry Bsc Hons Vice President (Sport) Before University, I had played football and rugby at a local level, and representing school. During welcome week, I discovered American Football and haven t looked back since, being President of the club in my final year. This shows the fantastic opportunities available within the Athletic Union, which also gives athletes a chance to develop their skills and reach their full potential. There are many other ways to get involved, with many active lifestyle programmes, intra-leagues and the new JustPlay scheme. All offer a great way of getting fit and healthy, as well as meeting new people. I m here to represent students in sport, making sure you have the best experience possible, and acting as the main contact between you and the University concerning the provision of sport. With the 2012 Olympics just around the corner, I encourage all students to get involved, as there is something for everyone. Your University experience will be all the better for it. vps@bugs.bham.ac.uk Tel:
