2 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS We run a variety of courses for all ages and abilities across our Lifestyle Centres. All courses run during school term times. BADMINTON Improve your game, develop new skills, and improve your tactical knowledge; this course will equip you with the skills to play at any level. BASKETBALL I Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world; a fast moving, thrilling team game which also helps develops co-ordination. If you want to improve your game, hook-up with us! BOWLS (SEPT - MARCH) An excellent course for beginners and improvers. You ll cover all the elements of the sport including correct delivery of Bowls and Jacks, types of shot, speed of green, laws and measurements and more. FENCING Engarde! Why not try this fast-paced, exciting and athletic sport which keeps both mind and body fit. All equipment is provided. FOOTBALL I Learn the best techniques for dribbling, passing, shooting and tackling to improve your overall game. Please bring plenty to drink with you. GYM TOTS / FUN A basic introduction to gymnastics and physical play helping develop coordination, balance, confidence and social skills. KARATE I I This Chinese martial art uses striking, punching, kicking, and open-hand techniques. Karate not only brings enormous fitness benefits but also teaches self-discipline and can improve self-esteem. MS / PARKINSON This course is for people who want to retain cognitive ability, decelerate neurological deterioration and shape your disease. Exercise is medicine. Get stronger muscles, improve posture and get a healthy dose of endorphins. PILATES I The Pilates exercises taught in this course work to tone muscles (which are hard to reach), improving balance, stability and flexibility with a focus on controlled breathing. SQUASH Whether you ve played before or have never picked up a racquet, this course will teach you new skills and the tactics behind this high speed sport whilst building and improving on-court endurance. TAI-CHI Suitable for all fitness levels. Improve your health and wellbeing through balance, posture, strength and coordination training. Tai Chi has the added benefit of being good for stress relief. TOTS FOOTBALL I This course will help develop your child s ball-eye coordination, balance and ball control whilst encouraging teamwork and learning the rules of the game. Please bring plenty to drink. TRAMPOLINING / TRAMP TOTS I This fun and exhilarating courses begins with tuck and star jumps and progress to advanced rotations, twists and combinations. 3 ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS We have a wide range of activities on offer for all ages and abilities. Why not try something new? ACTIVITIES SOCIAL 60YRS+ I Meet new friends whilst taking part in a variety of sports, including badminton, table-tennis, classes and swimming. For ages 60yrs+ only. AIKIDO This is a Japanese martial art which uses grappling, throws and non-resistance to weaken opponents. All abilities welcome. BADMINTON SOCIAL KLC I A social session with a bit of badminton thrown in! A great way to meet new friends and stay fit. BADMINTON 50YRS+ KLC A social session for adults aged 50yrs+ with a bit of badminton thrown in! A great way to meet new friends and stay fit. CRÈCHE (TERM TIME ONLY) Parents get a bit of me-time. Our crèche is suitable for pre-school children and infants. Parents/guardians must remain within the Centre at all times. DEMENTIA GROUP A friendly, social group who take part in a variety of activities including coffee and a chat, badminton, table-tennis, singing, and board games. JUDO LADIES JUDO A physical and mental discipline and martial art, where the object is to take down and immobilize the opponent. This popular activity is open to all levels of ability and ages. JUDO (SPECIAL NEEDS) A popular and social class. Judo is an ideal sport for people with a wide variety of disabilities including the blind or visually impaired. Why not give this sport a try? JUDO TOTS A fun way to keep active, make friends, and learn Judo through games. JUJITSU A popular martial art based on using tactics and the opponents own energy to their own disadvantage. KARATE ADULT I This Chinese martial art uses striking, punching, kicking, and open-hand techniques. LADIES RECREATION Meet new people in a friendly, social environment whilst taking part in a wide variety of sports and activities. LINE DANCING Men and women take to the floor for a dance; a fun way to keep fit and meet new friends. LADIES RECREATION Meet new friends whilst taking part in a variety of sports, including badminton, table-tennis, classes and swimming. A ladies only session. MS CLASS Exercise is medicine and this class will help you stay as healthy as possible. It can improve mood, help your posture and some MS symptoms. Everyone welcome. OSTEOARTHRITIS CLASS This session is based around maintenance exercises to help reduce pain and improve movement in people with osteoarthritis. Whilst sufferers may worry about the effect of exercise on joints, research shows that exercise is considered the most effective non-drug treatment for osteoarthritis. 4 ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS OSSIES ACTIVITIES Meet new people! This multi-activity social session which includes badminton, table tennis, squash and swimming. PARENT AND TODDLER A fun pre-school session which takes place in Atlantis adventure softplay. Let the kids run wild whilst you catch up with friends. RECREATION 60YRS+ I Meet new friends whilst taking part in a variety of sports, including badminton, table-tennis, classes and swimming. For 60yrs+ only. ROLLER-SKATING I I Set to the latest tunes, you and your family can enjoy whizzing around in our sports hall. There is no upper or lower age limit for this activity. (SKATES ARE PROVIDED OR YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN) ROOKIES 8-15YRS I KLC I Rookies Junior Lifeguards club covers water rescue and emergency response with competitions and challenges. SOFTPLAY I KLC I Run that excess energy off in one of our adventurous softplays. Softplay is open everyday and also available for party hire. (IF NO PARTIES ARE BOOKED THE AREA IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ALL DAY) SQUASH NIGHT I I Practice your squash skills in a fun, relaxed, and social environment. SWIM TO FITNESS I KLC I I This is a set training session with coaches on hand to help you improve your stroke technique and swimming fitness. (14YRS+ AND ABLE TO SWIM 400M+ IN THE 3 MAIN STROKES) SWIMMING TRI-CLUB KLC Ideal for the swimmer looking to improve their swimming fitness and technique for competitive sports. 50+ FOOTBALL KLC I Walk don t run football, is played on our 5-a-side courts with simple rules, in a fun and very social environment. WALKING NETBALL KLC A slower version of the game, Walking Netball is growing in popularity. As this game is played at walking pace, anyone can play regardless of age, or fitness level. XHEIGHT ADVENTURE CLIMB Whether you re a kid or a big kid, why not try your hand at climbing on our challenging 16 themed walls and giant staircase. Ages 5-105yrs! (IF NO PARTIES ARE BOOKED THE AREA IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ALL DAY) SQUASH JUNIOR BEGINNERS SQUASH TIPS For all abilities; this session introduces youngsters to the basics of squash whilst providing opportunities to meet new friends.
