Megan was caught by coworker Ann Jones, who had this to say: 2 Pumpkin Decorating Contest Ann went above and beyond. There has been paint on the floors at Radiation Oncology that others have tried to remove. Ann brought in steel wool from her home and stayed over to remove the paint from the floors so it would look nice for the open house at Radiation Oncology! Thank you, Ann, for going above and beyond! Thank you for all the extra help these past few weeks. Since I was rooming, you had all faxes divided for me so I could get my work done. You also have been filing all my dictation charts. 2 November 13, 2018 StatL ine PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST The McLaren Bay Region team had a great time celebrating Halloween with a pumpkin decorating contest! Thank you to everyone who participated in the spirit of the holiday. 3 StatL ine November 13, 2018 MICHIGAN HARVEST FOOD DRIVE From October 10-31, McLaren Bay Region employees filled donation boxes throughout our facilities with items that are most needed by our area food banks. During that time, our employees donated more than 440 pounds of food! In Michigan, 16% of households are struggling to put food on the table and 21% of children do not know where their next meal will come from. These generous donations from our employees will go a long way in helping those in need this holiday season. A very special thank you to Amy Dore, Pam Lesniak, and the Health Technology students for all their hard work during the Michigan Harvest Food Drive! EMPLOYEE FUND DRIVE PHASE 2 FOUNDATION IN FOCUS It s not too late to donate to the 2019 Employee Fund Drive. If you have not already turned in your pledge card, you should have received a 2nd packet in the mail. If you plan on donating, you can direct your donation to our current funding focus, for 3D Mammography, or you can direct your donation toward the purchase of equipment, programs or services for McLaren Bay Region and McLaren Bay Special Care Hospital. Please return your completed pledge card to the Foundation office no later than December 7th. If for some reason you did not receive a pledge card, please contact Alysa Matthews at or alysa.matthews@mclaren.org. We are so thankful for all of those that have already pledged or donated.

4 Identifying Stroke Symptoms B.E. F.A.S.T. B E F A S T BALANCE Does the person have a sudden loss of balance? Trouble walking, dizzy, loss of balance or coordination. EYES Has the person lost vision in one or both eyes? Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes. FACE Does the person s face look uneven? Is their smile crooked or mouth drooping? ARM Is one arm hanging down? Can the person raise both arms equally? SPEECH Is the person s speech slurred? Is speech slurred, or drooling, or confused? TERRIBLE HEADACHE AND TIME Does the patient have a terrible headache? TIME IS CRITICAL. Activate Stroke Response or Rapid Response Code Stroke Note: In some cases, stroke may also cause a severe nausea and vomiting of unknown cause.
